Anyone knows what he is talking about? Is it about next year’s Team World Championship?
I have no problem with host country automatically qualifying for the event but for the host country (England) to be allowed top seeding (rank 8) and automatically allowed in the main draw is criminal. No other sport does this whenever host country has automatically qualified for the event. Anders Lind had every right to be frustrated with ITTF. Denmark Mens Team and Hong Kong Womens Team are currently rank 8 I think, so these 2 teams lose out.Denmark are ranked 8th

I might be wrong, but as far as I remember host nation is one of top seeded in football, and there might be more than one host (well, they also have problem, that host nation usually loses some ranking due to not playing qualification matches and it is hard to estimate their real ranking)No other sport does this whenever host country has automatically qualified for the event.
What a weird set-up for a competition. Is there any sports related reason as to why they do it like this? Or is this really just to assure the stronger teams reach the knockout for entertainment? In football, host nation gets seeding, but every team is in group stages.
in 2026 WTTTC, the 8 seeded teams "avoid groups" and are directly into the next round and that is where it is different.

They do this in rugby, last week you had the "Tier 2 finals" between Samoa and Belgium, it ended 13-13, Belgium lost the qualification for only 1 point vs Samoa: Samoa won one more offensive bonus point than Belgium during that 2027 RWC tier 2 qualifications campaign: when you score 4 or more tries at the international level, you get one more 1 point, so it's a 5 points win. W = 4 points, N=2, L=0.It is indeed weird as before (can't remember what or when - since so much has changed, I don't use energy to go and remember them) they would be in the groups and play together.
maybe they want to keep the strong 8 teams out and have the other 56 teams compete with each other first, so like main draw seeds + qualification groups, but they call it stage 1a, 1b....
I do miss the tiers system, where each tier has they own finals and progression up and down.
Even when the Rugby World Cup wast host by Japan in 2019, no favor "sold" to the host country.
Japan was in the band 3, the 8 best nations in World Rugby rankings in band 1 and 2. Japan had to fight against better ranked nations, like Ireland (Band 1 ranked N4) and Scotland (band 2 ranked N5). Only the 2 bests teams were going to the quarter finals.
Guess what happened ? Japan won all 4 matches.

Instead of whining, Anders Lind should use Japan's rugby team as an example. France's womens team was supposed to go the round of 16 at the last ETTTC, we all know what happened right ?

There are also defensive bonuses: if you loose but score 4 tries or more, you get 1 point instead of 0. If loose by less than 5 pts margin, 1 point too. Means you can even get 2 defensive bonuses when you loose: you scored 4 tries and lost by less than 5 points = 2 points L. There are many 5-2s in french Top 14, cos' you only have to score 3 tries or more for any bonus, it's a very spectacular league, just yesterday Pau has beaten Bègles-Bordeaux 33-34 on Bordeaux's stadium, Bègles-Bordeaux has been awarded 2 points so: they scored 3 tries, and lost by only 1 point. Pau sored 5 tries, offensive bonus so.
