우리 대표팀은 지난 3일부터 12일까지 충북 진천선수촌에 모여 훈련했다. 동시에 신유빈을 비롯한 주축 선수들은 유럽에서 열린 월드테이블테니스(WTT) 챔피언스 시리즈에 출전해왔다.
신유빈은 WTT 챔피언스 몽펠리에와 챔피언스 프랑크푸르트에서 두 대회 연속 여자 단식 4강에 오르며 쾌조의 경기력을 보였다.
이 때문에 혼성단체 월드컵에서도 신유빈의 경기력을 극대화할 복식조 구성이 관심거리다.
문제는 신유빈이 호흡을 맞춰왔던 복식 파트너가 혼성단체 월드컵 출전자에 들지 못하면서 새로운 짝을 찾아야 한다는 점이다.
신유빈은 작년 12월 혼성단체 월드컵 때 혼성단체 월드컵 때 여자복식 듀오로 나섰던 '환상 콤비' 전지희가 은퇴한 후 올해 5월 도하 세계선수권에선 왼손잡이 유한나(포스코인터내셔널)와 호흡을 맞춰 동메달을 수확했다.
그러나 유한나가 이번 대표팀에 뽑히지 않았기 때문에 신유빈으로선 왼손 최효주를 비롯해 이은혜, 김나영 중에서 새 파트너를 찾아야 한다.
신유빈은 최효주와 지난 6월 WTT 스타 컨텐더 류블랴나 대회 때 듀오로 나서 준우승했다.
신유빈의 혼합복식 파트너 낙점도 고민거리다.
작년 파리 올림픽 동메달에 이어 WTT 시리즈 자그레브·류블랴나 대회 우승을 합작했던 '찰떡 콤비' 임종훈(한국거래소)과 작년 혼성단체 월드컵 때 손발을 맞췄던 조대성(삼성생명) 모두 이번 대표팀 명단에서 빠졌기 때문이다.
현재 남자 대표팀에서 왼손잡이 선수는 박강현이 유일하다.
오상은 감독과 석은미 감독은 대표팀 선수들이 참가하는 한국프로탁구연맹 주최 프로리그 파이널스(14∼16일·광명시민체육관)와 WTT 스타컨텐더 무스카트(17∼22일·오만 무스카트)까지 마친 후 복식조 구성을 마무리한다는 계획이다.
오상은 남자팀 감독은 "남자 복식은 장우진을 중심으로 여러 조합을 생각하고 있고, 혼합복식도 어떤 콤비가 유리한지 고민하고 있다"면서 "28일 대표팀 출국 전에 사흘 정도 시간이 있기 때문에 그때 집중적으로 복식 훈련도 진행할 계획"이라고 말했다.
석은미 여자팀 감독은 "왼손 선수는 최효주가 있어 신유빈과 호흡을 맞출 수 있지만, 조별리그를 포함해 경기 수가 많기 때문에 상황에 맞춰 복식조를 구성하려고 한다"면서 "혼합복식조 구성은 오상은 감독과 상의해 결정하려고 한다"고 설명했다.

오른손인 신유빈의 경기력을 극대화하려면 동선상 기량 좋은 왼손 선수와 복식조를 이루는 게 좋기 때문이다.
24일부터 인천시 서구 청라동에 있는 한국마사회 훈련장에서 담금질을 시작한 가운데 신유빈은 박강현과 30분 정도 함께 혼합복식 훈련을 진행했다.
신유빈은 26일 연합뉴스에 "혼합복식과 여자복식 모두 감독님이 시키는 것에 맞춰 누구랑 나가든 최선을 다할 생각"이라면서 "박강현 선수와도 호흡을 맞췄는데 상대를 이길 수 있게 하겠다"고 강조했다.
신유빈의 혼합복식 파트너로 낙점받은 박강현도 처음 출전하는 혼성단체 월드컵에 임하는 결연한 출사표를 냈다.
박강현은 "왼손잡이여서 복식에서 책임감을 가지고 해야 할 것 같다"면서 "부담이 되는 게 사실이지만, 오히려 기회로 삼아서 좋은 결과를 얻도록 하겠다"고 다짐했다.
그는 이어 "우리나라가 작년까지 2회 연속 결승 진출해 준우승했기 때문에 그에 상응하는 성적을 낼 수 있도록 기여하고 싶다"면서 "오준성과 남자복식 호흡을 맞춰봤는데 기대가 된다"고 말했다.
여자 대표팀 선수 중 처음 출전하는 이은혜(30·대한항공)도 이달 중순 끝난 프로탁구리그 왕중왕전인 파이널스에서 여자 단식 우승을 차지한 기세를 혼성단체 월드컵으로 이어가겠다는 다짐이다.
이은혜는 "프로리그가 끝난 지 얼마 되지 않아 체력적으로는 조금 피곤하지만, 첫 출전인 만큼 주어지는 역할에 맞춰 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
오상은 감독과 석은미 감독이 이끄는 남녀 대표팀은 28일 인천국제공항을 통해 결전지인 중국 청두로 떠난다.

스웨덴은 세계랭킹 4위 트룰스 뫼레고르가 빠졌지만, 세계 32위 안톤 칼베리와 여자부 세계 58위 린다 버그스트롬이 주축을 이뤘다.
두 번째 경기에서 대결하는 대만은 세계 13위 륀윈루와 여자부 세계 21위 정이징이 남녀 에이스로 나선다.
석은미 여자대표팀 감독은 "대만과 스웨덴 모두 전력이 좋아 올해는 예선 리그부터 까다로운 상대와 맞붙게 됐다"면서 "스웨덴과 첫 경기가 중요할 것 같고, 대만도 린윈루와 정이징이 호흡을 맞추는 혼복과 단식이 강하다. 준비를 철저히 해야 할 것 같다"고 설명했다.
