Setup smelling off, sort of gasoline smell

Recently bought my setup and it came smelling like gasoline, ive cleaned the topsheet with a bit of water and wipe it off, even wet tissues that has smell but alcohol free. It still smells, i wonder if spraying perfume will damage the topsheet or other parts. Any suggestion?

You have chinese rubbers? That's normal. The smell is from the booster oil they applied on the sponge.
And don't spray anything beside rubber cleaners on the topsheet.

That's wierd..
Maybe airing it out for some nights will help. Be sure to avoid direct sunlight

With cheap chinese rubbers i like to boost the sponge with baby oil and it will smell nice 😆

But why is smelling nice important for you? are you having a diddy party with your racket?

They probably used a classic glue. The smell will disappear over time

hahahaha, it isnt that important but id like my racket to smell normal atleast. Im seeing some progession that the smell is decreasing, ive been airing it out since 1 - 2 days ago

Definitely do not spray perfume on it.
Besides damaging the rubbers it will make it smell even worse when it mixes with the existing smell.
Just see how it is in a week, I reckon the smell will fade.
Did you ask the seller why it smells like Gasoline?

Absolutely correct, the smell is fading and the stench isnt as strong as the first time it arrive, I recently asked the seller and he said that he used a bit of gasoline to detach the rubber from the old one

some rubber are just that way! maybe spray something on the cover or handle to mask the smell

Gasoline to clean the old rubber off the blade is efficient quick but a bit drastic. As a commercial person the seller would not give it the time to then let the gasoline vape completely off.
This is the part i completely condemn because you now have a blade with a mixture of gasoline and glue still doing what it does = it can't be good neither for the wood or the sponge

Gasoline doesn't damage wood. Before gasoline-based glues were banned, we used to re-glue our rubbers before every practice, which was Monday through Friday, and we had no problems with the wood. As a blade repair technician, I can say that nothing damages a blade more than the owner's unruly behavior.

Gasoline may not damage the wood directly but it will destroy/remove any sealant that may have been on the blade and likely cause the sponge to stick to the wood like the proverbial shit to a blanket and thereby damaging the blade when removing the rubbers.
Potential blade damage, reaction with the sponge, horrible smell, whatever way you look it's just not a good idea.
