As tittle said is good Hinoki blades to block?

If yes what are better one ply or more plies?

If possible elaborate the answer to understand the reason of your answer, thanks.
Yes, specially a one ply due to the speed and catapult. Blocking within one ply is a dream but you have to be careful not to overshoot…

Lazer is correct. A ball will generally bounce higher off solid wood than plywood. Solid wood provides a harder, more rigid surface that absorbs less of the ball’s energy compared to the slightly less dense nature of plywood, leading to a more efficient energy transfer and higher rebound. This is good if you want a speedy deflection block.

On the other hand, if you are a defensive chopper, 5 ply is better to tame the incoming speed.

Thanks for your answers, I'm a 5 plies BH defensive player using OX long pips to block or chop-block close to the table using stiff blade, hinoki be good for mine BH & attacking FH?
I would imagine that long pips prefer a harder surface, but I am not sure...

Hard isn't good to play close to the table due to high bounce better stiff or rigid.

Tested using Dr. Neubauer Matador Texa Carbon that is hard blade vs Stiga Infinity VPS that's stiff or rigid but not hard due to the limba outer ply.

If hinoki is similar to balsa I didn't like for sure, because balsa is very bad for looping with FH but good to block & smash, for BH is fine balsa to defend with long pips so an ideal blade if is your playing style but not for me that I loop & need spin blade with FH to made good services.

I also play a one ply hinoki on one of my setups and have a game based on blocking. Those blades are wonderful for blocking, especially for punch blocks. Put short pips on the blade for added menace 😬
