Miwa and Sora have had some disappointing results lately in doubles. Wonder if Japan will continue having them as #1 pair for the LA cycle. Oda is playing very well with Alexis.

It's a great question and I am not sure if Japan has any other option. They should consider testing a team of someone with Hayata or someone with Odo but since Harimoto/Hayata didn't work in Paris and no one is sure who they will field in doubles in LA, everything has been left up in the air.... I suspect more serious testing will occur when the third spots have a more concrete path.

Yeah, but it is important to remember, even 20 degrees is not vertical, it is just *within* the afforded tolerance. No one disputes high tosses that are mostly vertical. It's when you have a distance between where you toss and where you contact the ball that trouble starts.... with that, your toss needs to pretty much consistently go well over the head to be safe.

He's 2:2 in h2h against Truls, and Truls had to reach deep/get a little lucky to beat Bertelsmeier; but I'd still pick Truls most days. Kanak has played well but not what I'd call lights-out. Truls has some good combinations and an unpredictability that I think makes him a tougher matchup than Togami or Jarvis. I'm more than ready to eat my words, though. ❤️🇺🇸

Sure but let’s remember those days not so long ago where semis were 100% china and qf 7 players out of 8 , the 8th only because there was no Chinese players in that part of the draw

The men have had something like this for a while now since LJK disappeared. On the women's side, WMY lost to Sato, that's the only real thing that changed. What will be interesting is whether they can get Kuai Man past Sato and Miwa.
