How does the Q968 play. I just got mine and I am coming from Petr Korbel.
How come you are deciding to switch from inner carbon to outer?
Well, not exactly outer, as the S968 is still inner. I only have experience with one Q968 so I don't know if it applies to all of them, but I found it difficult to really hit into the blade. The W968 which I used before that was already difficult to activate, but the Q was even harder. I did like that it was more crisp and direct on the BH side. I'm focusing a bit more on recovery and longer rallies now rather than finishing the point ASAP, so I'm looking for equipment that suits that purpose a bit better.
I've only had a brief session against the robot with the S968, without using the intended rubbers (my new H3N BS is still boosting so I'm using an old sheet of off boost H3N OS), but preliminarily it feels even more crisp and direct than the Q968, but it was also a bit easier to activate, more on the level of the W968.
There are things preventing me from switching to the FZD ALC or the LJK ADC as well. The FZD ALC as an outer blade is a lot more difficult to brush loop as it's got noticeably less dwell on that type of shot. The LJK ADC as an inner blade is much better in that regard. However, the LJK is a bit too fast, which when combined with the somewhat flatter trajectory compared to the W/Q968 tends to make the ball go long. I also like the 968 handle better than the FZD and the LJK's. FZD's handle feels slightly thick to me as I have smaller hands. LJK's is narrow in an awkward way, which is supposed to make it easier for FH/BH transitions (it's thin and rounder than usual). I think it actually does accomplish that goal, but it doesn't feel as comfortable.
