Table Tennis in Japan

What time ? Saturdays are crowded with kids . It’s a one hour slot system and if there are too many people there is a priority and lottery system to ensure everyone can play. It may mean that you need to wait one hour between available slots. Usually 9-10 12-13 and 20–22 is less crowded
Hi, sorry for the late reply! We changed plans and are now going to play tomorrow (Friday 6/6) evening instead of Saturday. Would you possibly be available to meet up around 6pm?

Also, how does the reservation system work for Minatoku? I checked their website here: https://minatoku-sports.com/personal/ and here: https://minatoku-sports.com/facility/athleticarea3/ and it said that the general public doesn't need to register? Does that mean we can just walk in and play after paying the entrance fee?

Thank you so much for your help @Takkyu_wa_inochi and hope to meet/play with you tomorrow!

Hi, I will be staying around Nishi-Waseda for 3 months. Is there any location to play close by? Anyone here interested in playing? I'm not that good, around 1000 TTR in Germany
Cosmic sports center on Thursdays

You can check out also Shinjuku Sports Center.

There are also often p4match tournaments nearby Okubo/Takadanobaba
Check p4match.com

There are also tt schools for group or 1-1 lessons nearby such like t-crown.jp or Le cours (Kokusaitakkyu) at Takadanobaba . Plenty of other schools a little bit further away.

Thanks for your reply! Do you know if the group / 1-1 lessons accept non-japanese speaking people?

as long as you pay it should be ok... but if you can't understand japanese; you're losing out the explanations and value

Hi everyone,

I'll be traveling to Japan at the end of May and I'm planning to visit local shops and join some training sessions. Have any of you been there before? Do you have any contacts who might be up for hanging out or any insider tips to share?
What would you recommend doing in Japan? I'd be truly grateful for any suggestions!

Best regards from Switzerland,
Sharmli

Have you heard of Balls Deep? You can find it on Meetup. They play quite regularly in Shin-Okubo, Ikebukuro, and Koenji areas.

Hi, I read about their description but was afraid it might be too casual. But I think I'll try it out and see, thanks!

Yeah, I think that's really the goal but they do have some decent players. Most of the time when the good players attend, they play with each other, 10mins each time and just rotate. They have one tonight at Ikebukuro. If you have time, you can message the organizer and ask him if you could come watch and play a bit. I can see a few good players coming tonight starting at 5:30.

I'll just join the one on Tuesday in Okubo, even if it's more casual, that's better than no table tennis at all!

I recommend you register at some p4 tournament

Go to the website p4match.com

Round robin type, no elimination, and rating system so you are paired with people of your level, and you’ll even get some (small) prize if you win
