Some fascinating insight from Coach Chu. The English dubbing is definitely improved these days.
He talks about intentionally snapping JPens and regluing to solve resonance issues. Having a blade so good that Yoo Nam Kyu asked to borrow it for a major final Vs Ma Lin.
And he reckons there could be another JPen great in the future. He cites Ma Long's system as being similar to a penhold system (relying on forehand footwork for scoring and not relying on Chiquita).
He currently uses a 93g JPen (assume it's 10mm) with Tenergy 64.

Yeah I was a little surprised tbh. He also talked about accidentally snapping his favourite ever blade and regluing it because it was so good instead of finding a new one. It's rare to get these sorts of insights.

And if you look at the crosssection of his blade there are marks where he's hit the table. Mine's worse, but at least shows the legends are a bit like us 😆
I do but don't think it prevents splitting. Always 2 coats of Xiom I-Sure.

Yup, it looks real beat up. I've already dented mine, which is what made me get the Kokutaku spongy edge tape.

I was thinking of getting a backup setup, and was looking at the XIOM Hibi O pro.
I actually like the shape, and prefer it to the Cypress shape.
But there's very little info about this blade.
Do you know how the quality is?

Yup, it looks real beat up. I've already dented mine, which is what made me get the Kokutaku spongy edge tape.

Sorry I don't know. The Hibi-O uses the same shape as the MUV Prospeed afaia. There's not so many tips on there. I think all the videos are generally released now. Some really good info, but more of a general thing, not advanced info.

Yeah I think they moved away from that approach and focused just on the Katana series which uses regular shape. I guess their main competition in Korea is now T-Mount with Kim Taek-Soo's popularity. Of course Butterfly will always sell well. And Yoo and Lee are releasing blades with Nexy.
Ryu had a special run of limited edition blades on his own label which are probably still available on GMarket.

Yeah, it has the exact same shape as the MUV. What I like about the xiom shape is the balance. It's not head heavy like my vmax, so bh flicks with a lot of wrist are easier.

I saw the video giving tips on smashing high balls. The guy knows his shit.

Nah with equipment I keep it simple and don't EJ too much. Been using the same Butterfly model since 2014, except for 2018 when I had a Xu Xin CPen phase.
On the T-Mount website they slap a massive shipping fee if you order below I think $150USD or something. So best to order on tt-japan, WRM for the tiger series.
