  1. Here's Why Ma Long is the Greatest Table Tennis Player Of All Time!

He doesn't need to win next Olympics, he's already the GOAT. What more does he need? 2021 games won't be happening anyway.
  2. Here's Why Ma Long is the Greatest Table Tennis Player Of All Time!

This is because spin has been eliminated from the game, systematically and by design by ITTF. They wanted to slow down the game but ironically now its all about speed since rallies are longer and the only way to get ahead is to hit harder and faster to reduce opponents reaction time. vs in old...
  3. Here's Why Ma Long is the Greatest Table Tennis Player Of All Time!

Ma Long is GOAT because he can adapt. A few years ago his bh couldnt match up to FZD, and befor that maybe ZJK. But he worked on it and its now as good. While the rest of his game has also evolved. No other player has ever been able to do this. They all have their weakness. ML has none.
  4. I am disgusted!

Are you seriously suggesting that Chinese players should be punished for being good? They spend their whole lives, literally giving away their childhood, to train, work hard and become this good. And because other countries can't compete, they should be punished? I'd rather watch the best in...
  5. Waldner or Ma Long?

The point about WLQ is well made. He really did have no weaknesses. You can say his bh was not as strong as the monster fh (but then again no stroke in TT was as good) but it took the next evolution in TT, namely the ML/ZJK/WH consistent over the table loop on bh side, combined with WLQ's...
  6. Players You Dislike

Came here expecting to see ZJK mentioned a lot, wasn't disappointed. I think Wang Liqin has to be the most universally liked and respected Chinese player, both within China and outside. Ma Long also seems like a very nice guy who everyone likes. Ma Lin and Wang Hao tend to play up their bad boy...
  7. Players You Dislike

It doesn't take much to dislike Schlager I'm guessing :) It must begin in the warmup as you look at his weird ugly effective strokes and then as the match progresses it turns into active hate with his unorthodox shots, serves, everything :)
  8. Waldner or Ma Long?

Please forgive me for reviving this old thread :) but wanted to add my thoughts. First of all, its impossible not to like, admire or be awed by Waldner. He is almost more than a man, he's a myth, a legend. So his place in TT history is secure. And lets not forget the game was harder and faster...
  9. Forehand flick

I think on both bh and fh flicks, it is very important to do a complete stroke with follow through. IME it is easy to stop those strokes short because if you have incorrect technique, the ball will go long. So its important to get the brushing action right.
