I agree with ZJK minimum 1 month or depending the player more, never less...
Of course he is right. Especially when considering the blade as something you might want to use over time and not just first impressions.

When World Champions sound like USATT 2000 EJs, something is going on...

What's going on is the sad playing out of frantic attempts to squeeze money out of a career after its demise. One would hope there would be a more respectable, and more human, post-career life for a once god-like player like ZJK, but somehow that seems to be difficult.

Can't ride off into the sunset when you rack up even digit gambling debts.

But he's literally telling people there's no need to buy expensive blades because there's not that much R&D that goes into it, including the ones with his name on it. In other streams he also tells people there's no need to buy his blade, over 1000 RMB you should just hang it up as a collectible, etc. I mean he does live stream and sell a variety of products, like meat, face masks - just like all other streamers - but it is just the norm there.

I'm kind of glad he's around though - he routinely gives insight into how he processes the game and his approach. Don't really get that high level insight anywhere else.

For reference the red one costs USD 140 on Taobao. That's about what a FZD ALC costs.

Well. He might be right for blades which you consider using on the long term. But I can pretty quick judge if a blade is worth playing for 3 month or not. And with experience in trying new stuff, you also get a good feeling on the differences early on.
My routine for new material usually includes playing material for like 10-20 hours (3-5 training sessions). This eliminates the usual day-to-day variation in your own form. If the material is working as expected, I continue using it in training and matches. Especially matches is import, here I agree with ZJK.
If that works out ok, there is still the question, does it over more than my current setup? If yes, keep it, if not leave it and turn back to old setup.
