Hi all,
Looking for rubber suggestions for my Butterfly Primorac Japan (95g) for summer training.
Background: two years of club training in Germany. Just finished my second season at 4. Kreisklasse level and crossed 1100 TTR. Forehand-dominant topspin game, close to the table on attack -- sometimes forced back to mid distance. Stroke is forearm driven with body use still developing. Wrist use is okay, comfortable adding sidespin on loops.
Last season I played a Xiom Fuga with Tibhar Hybrid MK 2.0mm FH and Xiom Vega Europe 1.7mm BH. This was a top spin monster and clearly helped me through the season. However I felt the Fuga was a bit too flexible for blocking and required me to stay aggressive at all times. That works against players at my level. Against stronger players I couldn't often get to rallies and made a lot of unforced errors. The Primorac is the new summer setup. The goal is to develop a more all-round offensive game and start competing with players rated 100/200 points higher. Backhand is currently used to set up FH attacks. Mostly pushes, occasional flicks and some very rare counter-tops. I want to make it more active and attacking over the summer.
So far I have tried Hybrid MK 2mm FH and Donic Bluegrip J3 2mm BH on the Primorac for two sessions - both are used rubbers I had from earlier. The setup feels less dwell than the Fuga and more catapult. First attacks landed long. I had to shorten the arm movement and close the angle. I am feeling more comfortable with this now.
Which combinations would you recommend? I considered non- hybrid rubbers with some catapult e.g. Rakza 7, Vega Korea. The idea is that a shorter stroke generates enough pressure to stay in rallies against better players. (I prefer non butterfly rubbers)
Thanks
