I’m choosing between these options, I have dignic 05 but I think it’s too fast for me, I like it, I can hit good shots in my backhand but I often over shoot it and miss because it’s too fast. Which of there’s do you think is better for my backhand? My backhand game usually consists of a slow open up and then rally and then I usually punch or counter to finish
Honestly? If you like D05 but think its too fast then I would try Glayzer. Pro M is not bad at slow opening but its not its strong suit, Glayzer has better topsheet grip and a safer arc on brush while maintaining good control and speed on counter/punch. Imo Pro M is faster than Glayzer in the open rally though

Interesting. My bh loop is usually just to start the rally. I also want to try a stiga rubber to haha 😅. Want to try something other than butterfly lol everyone uses it

For good reason. Butterfly rubbers tend to be lightweight and durable. If D05 is too fast then avoid DNA Platinum H. If you really want a Stiga rubber than Helix M is probably my favorite choice for backhand

do you reccomend the mantra pro m or h for backhand block, punch, counter and looping?

Hi all,

I need some help! I've recently won some TT vouchers and i'm going to get some new rubbers with them.

I'm currently using an all-wood acoustic g-rev which i'm very happy with, and currently using Nittaku G1 on FH and C1 on backhand.

I'm going to go for Dignics 09c for my forehand rubber, but i'm having trouble picking a BH rubber. My backhand isn't as strong or stable as my FH so i usually go for something medium-soft. I tend to push and block more on backhand with occasional open ups on weak balls.

The website i've won the vouchers for specialises in Xiom, so ideally something from them, or could go for Stiga/Butterfly as well.

C1 hardness is 45.00, so i was considering Stiga Mantra Pro M which is 47.00, so slightly harder, and would make blocking a bit more stable.

Any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated 🙏
Let me guess, it’s custom table tennis? If so then I got sponsored by them and I’m almost the same as you on my Bh but resorted to xiom omega 8. I’ve been using it for a week now and it’s great, 45 degrees and can be used well in all gears. Very light aswell if your into that

I haven't played H; 50° just feels too hard for BH and likely would be for most amateurs unless you're really explosive or mainly block, I guess. But I can tell you M is perfect for blocking, punching, and countering, but it struggles a bit at opening and pure looping. I imagine H amplifies both these positives and negatives.

How does helix m compare to mantra pro m?
Helix is not as punchy but has much better spin quality. Both are fast but Pro M is definitely more of a speed based rubber while Helix M focuses on spin. I think you can hit harder with Helix M before it starts to give up though

do you reccomend the mantra pro m or h for backhand block, punch, counter and looping?
Pro M is better for backhand, H is pretty hard and unless you have a strong backhand or really just like pushing and block/counter you might struggle with its lower trajectory

A lot of rubbers fit this criteria lol. Can you narrow it down? Do you want something closer to O7P or something closer to D09C?

Please recommend me rubber closer to D09C.
Thank you.
D09C but softer- Trinity Dynamic, JHC52.5
D09C but more Chinese- RZEH, Vega China, Codexx 54
D09C but more Euro- Bluegrip J1, Nuzn55
D09C but even more Euro- DragonPower52.5, V15Sticky, Bluestar A1

Closer to O7P pls
Not narrowed down too much. Maybe a low stickiness hybrid that is harder than O7P like DNA Hybrid H or HybridMK Pro

Would add Tibhar K2 to your D09c but more Chinese list and add J&H 55 somewhere but where I am not sure....

No rubber does everything well. Every rubber is a trade-off, so you need to pick a lane and commit to the style you actually want to play.

If your game is:

  • close to the table
  • heavy on brush loops/spin manipulation
  • focused on short game, serves, and opening quality

…then Butterfly Dignics 09C makes sense.

If your game is more:

  • mid/far distance
  • loop-to-loop and counterloop rallies
  • direct power and easier penetration

…then ZYRE 03 is probably the better fit.

The biggest mistake is trying to find a rubber that does everything perfectly. It doesn’t exist. Better to decide your trajectory first, then accept the strengths and weaknesses that come with that choice.

I would lump K2 in with XVC/RZEH, there are differences but to me they all belong to the same lineage. I could make an educated guess on C55 because I have tried C52.5 but I havent actually used a sheet of C55 all to myself
