Pavade won in WS for the first time since last doing so in 2022 against YJN, who hasn't competed since. Her last podium finish was in 2024 with a bronze medal.

Felix won in MS as the favorite with Alexis still recovering from his injury after WTTC 2026.

3 things stood out to me during the MS finals:

1. Yellow card to Alexis seemingly for delaying the game when Felix was ready to serve. Did the umpire get swept up in these 2 brothers' famously fast tempo between points? Alexis probably would've been given some slack if it wasn't Felix across the table.

2. That service error at 10:8 in the final game. The nerves probably got to him! What followed seemed a complete choke.

3. Alexis didn't smile toward his brother at the end, unlike the last time. At least the camera didn't show it. He just grabbed his towel and walked off court like a stranger. However, last time, after smiling at his brother who was standing atop the table and the nation, Alexis went on to break his own hand in the hallway (IIRC). I hope he found better composure this time.
