Medium Pips. I need recommendations

Here are the ones i've tried so far:
Dawei 388c1 with Air sponge 1.2 - too soft
Dawei 388c1 ox - less deception and too slow
Armstrong Attack 8 - too soft

Im looking for something that is easier to attack serves with. Hard and Fast. Punches gives off knuckle balls.

Totally wrong thought process. Its your blade which you need to change.

For medium pips like dawei 388 c1 1.0mm sponge you will need a hard wood blade with high feed back like with walnut outter or similar.anything with balsa outter with inner carbon will have very mushy feeling.

I have been extensively experimenting with pips rubbers.

Dawei 388 c1 on FH and Spectol S1 for BH - modern pen hold grip play.

Play Style: PEN hold - close to table punch , push and slap game on FH with dawei 388 c1 1.0mm sponge.
And RPB with spectol s1 on BH.

These are my findings after experimenting with lot fo medium pips.

1. On Diode Pro balde - too crisp and precise - my current setup. Highly recommended.

2. On YEO now its Myth Extra offensive (walnut blade) - very crisp and precise for close to table slap and punch game. Highly recommended.

3. On Stiga all wood Cyber shape - since soft wood outter too mushy does not work well. Not recommended.

4. On Nittaku Tsubudaka - higest control but too slow for counter attack due to soft outter wood and it has mushy feel can't attack. Not recommended.

5. On Stiga WRB offesive - crisp but less control but good RPB. Recommended.

6. On Nittaku Escudar 2 - very good control and little power but not as crisp feeling as on diode pro or YEO. Not recommended.

7. On Neotech Balsa Carbon - Dampened feel due to soft Balsa outter but good control (yet to test completly) feedback is less. Not recommended.

8. On FZD AlC - too fast and high reaction control was less feedback is less. Not recommended.

9. Butterfly Hadraw 5 - Yet to test - need to find time to set it up.

10. Koki Naiwa wood - Yet to test - need to find time to set it up

11. Stiga Defense NCT - too slow - goof if you are away from table chopper.

12. Victas Matsushita offencive- Yet to get

13. Dhs 301x - Yet to test - need to set it up.


So basically I have been testing medium pips and its never the rubber..its the wood always.

Try avoiding carbon and go for all wood hard outter with high feedback / vibration your medium pips will behave amazingly and your opponent for sure will be irritated easily.

Update: I tested the Dawei 388 C1 (1.2 mm sponge) medium pips on the DHS 08X Classic, Victas Ni Xia Lian The Legend blade (also known as the Victas Swat), and the 729 Green Goblin Ebony 7 blade.

DHS 08X Classic​

The DHS 08X Classic with medium pips is good for close-to-the-table blocking. However, it has a noticeable catapult (trampoline) effect when punching, which makes it a bit difficult for me to control the blade consistently.

Victas Ni Xia Lian The Legend (Victas Swat)​

This is an amazing combination and currently my go-to setup. Since my playing style is very similar to Ni Xia Lian's, this blade suits me perfectly. It pairs exceptionally well with pips rubbers and provides excellent control, blocking, and attack capabilities.

729 Green Goblin Ebony 7​

This blade is way too fast for me. Attacking and punching are absolutely outstanding, but when I try to passive block close to the table, the ball tends to fly off the racket. While the speed is impressive, I find it difficult to control in the short game.

DHS PG7​

I have not had the opportunity to try the DHS PG7 yet, but I've heard that, similar to the Victas Swat, it performs very well with medium pips. I'm looking forward to testing it myself.
