Tried once/twice some sp (moristo I think) but it was too fast, so quit this idea long time ago.

During years I noticed some quite successful sp choppers in my country. This style seems harder to play against, than regular lp, somehow sp chopper always returns ball that heading forward, while lp choppers often send high ball. Against sp, you have to to be able to hit hard through the ball to score point, soft looping does not help, while against lp you have various options even if you not good against hitting through ball.

Some excellent advice and opinions in this thread, thanks for reviving it!

I feel humbled by that fact that people comment on short pips play from 5, 10 or 20 years of experience. My background is so limited in comparison. From my beginner perspective I see that the fear expressed that sp require good footwork is non existent, at least on my club level. Since I drop the backswing, and much of the follow through on my forehand strokes, I can focus on connecting with the ball correctly. Play is much easier!

I also started with a 7 ply blade, Stiga Pure. But it was way too fast for my technique, so I play with Pimplepark Filius which supports every stroke I want to play. Including chopping.
