  1. Beginner ALL+/OFF- ~50$ blade with the most potential – yet another blade recommendat

I will preface by saying that I have not read this entire thread, but I just wanted to pitch in my own two cents. I am an intermediate (~1400-1500 USATT) player, and I recently switched back to an all-wood blade after playing with a carbon blade for about 8 months, seeking more control and...
  2. Alternative to TB Spirit

Viscaria is basically a TBS, but with a bit more feedback and flex. I guess the feedback is just a preference thing, but the flex will make it a bit better for looping and a bit softer in the short game. XIOM has the 36.5, which is again the same exact structure as VIS/TBS, but reviews comparing...
  3. Andro rasanter c series

And as a side note, I would encourage you to try Rakza Z. Still a fairly hard sponge (50 esn), but it's a good bit easier to control. I haven't spent significant time with 09c, but Rakza Z offers similar advantages from what I remember. I tried them both on the backhand, and find they make it...
  4. Andro rasanter c series

Is the C series officially tacky? I have seen a mention or two on forums/comments, but I can't find any official info that says it is. Only thing they seem to confirm is that it has a new "Maximum Grip and Control" top sheet with their new half-conical pimples, on top of the usual "energy-cell"...
  5. trying to pick a balanced setup

Plus one to this too, but not everyone has access to a coach. I just give what advice I can, and recommend commonly used parts so people can find info on what to change if they don't like them.
  6. trying to pick a balanced setup

Dude, you need to get yourself some tear mender. It's behaviour is identical to table tennis specific glue, peels off like nothing, and costs $15 for half a liter. I can't imagine rubber cement is good for the lifespan of rubber or blade.
  7. Do you boost your ESN rubber after factory tuning wears off?

I think the higher tension on the top sheet meant it lost a lot of grippiness, and the ball didn't engage the sponge nearly as often/well. With the chinese rubbers I have boosted, I do agree that the throw angle is typically increased. Don't have any other experience with boosting esn rubbers.
  8. trying to pick a balanced setup

I agree with MZ, hurricane, even 3-50 is not going to be great for backhand, (although I will say I like it for forehand, once boosted it has a bit more pop than commercial H3). I don't think there's anything wrong with going with a wood blade with hurricane, as long as you boost it. I switched...
  9. Do you boost your ESN rubber after factory tuning wears off?

Boosted an old sheet of Rakza Z, just to see if I could get any more life out of it before replacing it. Didn't end up liking the result, it was a bit faster, but it lost it's high arc and control. The flatter trajectory and higher speed made it play significantly different than I was used too...
  10. Insights on Rakza lineup

This thread should just be pinned as "Rakza info" somewhere. Honestly the whole line is super underrated, the durability is excellent, and the fact that everyone here is just about agreeing with each other means it must be pretty consistent, unlike some other brands. At least in the US, pricing...
  11. Done with EJ(for a while)

I've had a similar revelation. I'm tired of messing with my equipment, thinking it'll let me win more by suiting my game better. I've been using a hurricane 301, which I love and will come back to. However, I think going carbon too early in my development was a mistake, as I think the enlarged...
  12. Insights on Rakza lineup

I used Rakza 7 Soft on my BH when I was pretty new to the game, and it worked ok for me to learn form and play reasonably well. I switched to Rakza Z, and saw a pretty drastic improvement. My loops and pushes were significantly spinnier, due to the tackiness of the topsheet, and I could kill...
  13. Help: Need recommendation for new equipment

+1 to what Brs said, no idea why I forgot about TT11. That deal he mentioned is very very good.
  14. Help: Need recommendation for new equipment

Couple things: 1. Don't go to amazon, they don't have much selection and prices are meh at best. Paddle Palace and Megaspin are your friends, very reputable and reasonable pricing. Megaspin will assemble your paddle for free as well, and they do a pretty good job, can't speak to paddle palace...
  15. Lifespan of the blades

I mostly have experience with limba, but pretty much everything splinters a bit. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you change your rubber every 2 months and it can survive 25 rubber changes, I think 100 months/4 years is pretty good lifespan for a piece of equipment. Outer Alc may be more...
  16. Lifespan of the blades

The only real wear on your blade comes when you replace the rubbers. Every time you do it, small splinters of the wood are pulled off with the rubber and glue. For pros who replace rubber every two weeks, this limits blades to about a year of life. Otherwise, they will pick up moisture over...
  17. Looking for high arc rubber

If you want high arc, don't bother with rakza 7 soft, just get rakza Z. Much higher arc, really makes it easy to keep the ball on the table.
  18. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

I actually ended up messaging a seller and they told me the only difference in Big Dipper vs Big Dipper II is that Big Dipper 2 is not factory tuned/boosted. So I think I am probably not going to waste my money on that, since I would just boost it anyways.
  19. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

Aliexpress. BD2 is definitely not sold as commonly as BD, but there are a couple legitimate stores that have it.
  20. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

Awesome, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking to confirm. I feel like I need the springiness, as when I use something with a dead feeling/slow sponge like H3, I end up messing up my form trying to swing harder to compensate. Bloom Power doesn't seem to be stocked well right now, so I...
