  1. Thread about Japanese Players

Congratulations to Satsuki on an amazing 3-0 win over WMY at a WTT tournament IN CHINA. I hope this becomes a springboard for success not only for Satsuki but for the Japanese women's team in general. But at a minimum, this shocking result is the encouragement that they needed. Even Miwa...
  2. WTT Feeder Otocec-2026 (7 - 11 March 2026)

    A bit of a shocker ....
  3. WTT Champions Chongqing 2026 Presented by AITO (10 - 15 March 2026)

SUPER SATSUKI ODO !!!! BOMBS AWAY !!!
  4. WTT Feeder Otocec-2026 (7 - 11 March 2026)

Newly crowned champion at WTT Feeder Düsseldorf, Yuka Kaneyoshi, is also entered in this tournament. She is one of the favorites to take this title as well. She's really made a name for herself in Europe. Compatriots Kotomi Omoda and MIsuzu Takeya are also strong candidates as well. Misuzu at...
  5. WTT Feeder Düsseldorf-2026 (2 - 6 March 2026)

Anna Hursey and Yuka Kaneyoshi are into the WS Finals. FWIW, Yuka beat Anna 3-1 in the Bundesliga. Although I'm favoring Yuka to win it, I think I will be just as happy if Anna wins it. I think at least currently, she is Europe's best young talent.
  6. WTT Feeder Düsseldorf-2026 (2 - 6 March 2026)

FWIW, if Kotomi beats Anna in the top half, she has beaten Yuka at the 2025 All Japan University Table Tennis Tournament.
  7. WTT Feeder Düsseldorf-2026 (2 - 6 March 2026)

Big test later today (6:15pm local time on table 1) for Annett Kaufmann. She takes on the top ranked player in Women's 1st Bundesliga, chopper Yuka Kaneyoshi, who has beaten Annett twice in the Bundesliga.
  8. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

Yeah, you're right. I was looking at Mima's expiring points in April, but it wouldn't happen until long after Chongqing. But it could happen sooner if Sabine makes the SF at Chongqing.
  9. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

Sabine is listed in the players list for Champions Chongqing, and Mima Ito is not. By my calculations, if Sabine makes it to the QF in Chongqing, she will swap places with Mima's WR#10. Hina (#9) leapfrogs Mima (#10) to take her rightful place as the 2nd highest ranked Japanese woman behind Miwa.
  10. Thread about Japanese Players

Congratulations to Japan's Mao Takamori for taking the Singapore Youth Smash U19 title beating Chen Min-Hsin of Taiwan 4-0. Also, congratulations to Japan's Miku Matsushima for taking the Singapore Youth Smash U15 title beating Liu Ziling of China 4-1.
  11. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

Valiant effort from Hina, but SYS is #1 for a reason. Still, winning 3 deciders including 2 over tough CNT opponents in HZJ and KM and playing SYS pretty well for a good chunk of the match should build confidence. Add to that winning the WD with Miwa, which includes a win over KM/CY, in their...
  12. Sabine Winter switches to antispin

I think at the time it was a reasonable assertion. But I'm happy to be wrong in this case. Being able to pivot if the facts reveal it's needed is a strength rather than a weakness.
  13. Sabine Winter switches to antispin

Man, it's been a rough week for the Tiebans.
  14. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

Are you still trying to convince everyone that Hirano was better than Hayata in the Paris cycle and still better in this cycle? This despite the fact that Hayata won multiple All Japans, dominated the selection race, and beat SYB *with an injured playing arm*... the very same SYB that Hirano...
  15. Thread about Japanese Players

I don't follow figure skating, but I did catch some of it at the Winter Olympics because of the great sportsmanship and camaraderie between the USA and Japan so I found it interesting that Hina referenced how she was inspired by USA gold medalist Alyssa Liu: Hina Hayata reveals her thoughts...
  16. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

Didn't watch it live due to timezone difference, but what an amazing win for Hina over KM 13-11 in the decider! Tiebans have a lot of explaining to do.
  17. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

In the final game, WYD served every ball fast and deep into Mima's SP BH eliciting a relatively weak bh counter giving WYD the immediate advantage. She was also able to take advantage of Mima's inconsistent FH.
  18. Sabine Winter switches to antispin

Still throwing shade at Sabine I see.
  19. JTTA Selection Trial for ATTC 2026 and WTTC Continental Stage 2027, 5/26-27

I don't think Odo has to feel stupid about anything. It's rather unfortunate that selection trial was literally the day after SC Chennai ends. Winning a Star Contender is no joke. And certainly beating Miu Hirano 4-0 in the finals is no joke. I think it's fine that they chose Miyu Nagasaki...
