  4. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Lin Shidongs playstyle and success seems so suprising to me. How is he the first one that I see that plays from so far away from the table with such high quality, agility and stability - while not making any "big" moves like Xu Xin or Fan Zhendong. Usually, you are at a major disadvantage having...

  8. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

I couldn't watch any matches of today yet, but for the Hugo match I'd say this is what probably happened: - Outplayed in Service/Receive game ( the biggest factor) - forced errors out of hugo - some rallies here and there going both ways - Once Hugo is out of the game, he generally loses and...

  12. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Yes and No. He has a unique and disruptive playstyle which works well because he is so talented and good at it. But not against everyone everytime. He is good at "overwhelming" his opponent, disrupting their rhythm, not giving them any time to breathe. Fast serves, fast rallies, hard to win...

Chinese players and their playstyle is Felix's cryptonite. Edit: Xiang Peng 3 - 1 Felix Lebrun
  14. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Also, in Same-handed matches, hidden serves are not as nasty as they are in opposite-handed matches. Still bad though, but I don't condemn players for using. As they say: "Don't hate thr players, hate the Game!" In this case, the game is on WTT and their umpires.
  15. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

4/4 matches went to the decider so far. I was rooting for Kao and Ma Long, now that Kao is out, I'm full on Ma Long. This tournament has definitely been delivering so far, no doubt. Plenty of great matches, upsets and storylines, and it's not even over yet.
  16. Why is Ma Long so good?

"Why is Ma Long so good?"
  17. Footwork..

You learn by trying it out, realizing and correcting your mistakes repeatedly, sleeping and doing it again. Apply that for footwork, and week after week you will see it becoming easier and better. It starts with stance and mindset pre-serve/receive. For each point in training, make it your...
  18. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Oh man, I feel bad for Dima. Coughing regularly throughout the match. Very exhausting rallies almost every point. 3 Games that went to deuce. Multiple match points. You could see he was missing that extra something at the end of the 4th and throughout the 5th set. Congrats to Zhou Qihao, he...
