  1. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

Peak Odo is really amazing but hard to sustain over the course of a bo7. Looking forward to see what she'll do in '26.
  2. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

It's true that they were T-League teammates, but I do have to give Odo extra credit as Sakura Yokoi is also on Satsuki's T-League team and is not anywhere near as good as Satsuki against choppers. Winning 4-0 against Honoka is really amazing.
  3. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

Satsuki was brilliant. I think she even learned from her close match with Hitomi and didn't give Honoka hardly any opportunities to attack.
  4. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

Just a note that starting this year, all singles matches are best of 7. Previously, it was bo7 starting in the SF. Tough draw for Sora (vs. WCQ) and Miwa (vs. WMY).
  5. NO KINGS

@Tony's Table Tennis , are you gonna just let Nextlevel surpass you like that? Come on! Get in the game!
  6. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

Given that Tomo has a good history vs. LSD I can accept that. They didn't use Hina at all in their Stage 2 meeting. Regardless of the final outcome, why not use Togami/Hayata in Stage 3 where Togami/Miwa lost 3-0. In addition to being a lefty, Hina is a better doubles player than Miwa. But...
  7. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

Not playing your best female doubles player at all?... I wonder if Hina is injured. Hope she's ok.
  8. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

I think Choi Hyo Joo will get serious consideration for 3rd player at Olympics as a doubles specialist (both XD and WD). Despite being underpowered, she will occasionally use the full body loop kill to great effect. Her clever flicks and placement in addition to being a lefty make her quite...
  9. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

A little levity during this tense tournament. Togami is hilarious.
  10. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

Japan conceding this one looking forward to tomorrow.
  11. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

Don't know. It may have been an honest mistake. Maybe he just read from a list given to him, but if you see a giant screen with Tomo pictured on it and he's literally next in line not sure how you can mess that up.
  12. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

The MC messed up the player introduction for Tomo by calling out his sister's name when it was his turn. Miwa got a good laugh out of it and started teasing him, but he did not look pleased with the screw up.
  13. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

Lea Rakovac is a good player, but I think she overperformed and Miu Hirano just had an off day. Satsuki Odo beat her 4-0 in that same WTTC.
  14. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

After G1 of the Men's Doubles in JPN vs. GER, there's announcement over the speaker: "Ladies and gentlemen, please use politest language to cheer for the athletes for both sides for their accomplishments. Thank you for your cooperation."
  15. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

Unfortunately.... From a post on X: I am a Chinese fan of player Harimoto. In this match held in China, there was a scene where a spectator shouted, "Anyone cheering for the Japanese should die" (right after that, there was a "fight" cheer from the Ha Li fans, though). I believe the JTTA...
  16. Thread about Japanese Players

With Kaho Akae taking the WTT Feeder Düsseldorf II title last week, she moves from WR#49 to WR#41. She's also currently in the round of 16 at Feeder Parma. Tough to peak on the 2nd of a back to back tournament though.
  17. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

The audience was pretty quiet when Japan won a point and cheered loudly when Croatia won a point. Could be other reasons for it, but sadly I think politics is coming into play.
  18. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

I do agree that it's poorly written. However, playing devil's advocate here, but technically, there is a team of 3/gender for France. It's just that 1/gender are cheerleading from the bench. There's no explicit rule that you must play all 3/4 players, and you can see that teams of 4 don't...
  19. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025, Chengdu, 11/30-12/7

I guess it could be how one interprets the playing system rules. Technically, France could say we do have a team of 3 per gender for the entire tournament: Lutz/Yuan/Pavade + Lebrun/Lebrun/Gauzy, but for this team match we decided just to field Lebrun/Lebrun + Pavade/Yuan.
