  1. DHS W968 review

I'm just wondering, would LGY or FZD or one of the non-968 users switch to 968 specifically for a match against a chopper? Against a chopper, the flick will be far less used than the FH loop, so if it were me, I would take a few days to train with the 968 to get the extra FH loop feeling...

Let me know how the BD2 goes. Why did you abandon the Vega backhand? Do you find that H3 is slow on your BH? How much booster do you need to use on it? Also, I don't like having a faster FH rubber than BH rubber.

haha, I think J3 probably is better than BD, but I have a lot of fond memories with BD, and I don't want to throw it under the bus yet. It's still a nice, spinny rubber with nice feeling and some nice built in catapult effect. My next setup is J3 41 on FH and BD 38 on BH.

I have regular version. I don't want my setup to be overly stiff, so I skipped the X version, although I like the extra power. I think my favorite BH rubber is actually Hammond Z2. It's so fast and responsive. I'm not actually very picky about ESN rubbers. To me, the difference between them...

I would recommend Jupiter 3 h39 the most for FH. Big Dipper is also very nice. Jupiter 2 is a completely different rubber, and maybe it is a bit slower.

Cool! look forward to your review. Where did you order from?

I'm just pondering, what did DHS do to make the 2nd gen w968 faster? a stronger alc? stiffer wood? thicker wood? If the CNT players wanted a faster blade, why don't they just use the same basic 968 structure and replace the alc with zlc? (I guess something along the lines of Harimoto zlc)

I get that line of thinking. But I also think that HL5 gives you more dwell and more control on flicks. It's slightly easier to produce spin on your flicks, and gives you a better arc and safety over the net.
  9. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Check out my new LP setup. I paid $5 for a sheet of Yinhe Neptune LP and put it on a old Butterfly Cutlass defensive blade. I got this setup 1) because I had the old Cutlass blade just lying around doing nothing and 2) to give to my practice partner to help me practice against LP's crazy spin...

Why do you say that HL5 is bad for flicks and other mid-range medium power shots?
  11. Yinhe Jupiter 3 Amazing Rubber

J3 is a Hybrid rubber. Compared to tensor rubbers like R48 or MXP or something, it may be less bouncy and slower at low speeds. But it is more powerful at higher speeds. Compared to Chinese tacky rubbers, J3 is lightning fast. Compared to Hybrid rubbers like K3, J3 is fast.

I've used the regular Moon Speed, but never tried the Moon Speed Pro. My impression is that MSP is a medium sponge where Jupiter 3 is a hard sponge. So I don't think they are similar. I also get the impression that the MSP is just a heavily treated rubber.

What would be the closest cheap clone for the 2nd Gen 968 in your opinion?
  14. Yinhe Jupiter 3 Amazing Rubber

I'm usually using the DHS Fang Bo Carbon (I don't want to pay for HL5 or 968, so I figure this is close enough). Sometimes I also use my Stuor Harimoto S-ZLC clone blade. This blade has quite a lot of kick and catapult. The blade overall has a mild soft-feeling, some people might call it...

Make sure you get the 2nd generation version and not the 1st gen. When you buy, how do you know if its 1st gen or 2nd gen?
  16. DHS W968 review

Now i'm jealous! I wish there was a low-cost clone of the 968
  17. Yinhe Jupiter 3 Amazing Rubber

I still feel Jupiter 3 to be amazing. I'm not playing with it right now because I put it into storage to save for when I really need it (when I have many tough matches with tough opponents). So I plan to take it out again in the near to mid future when I feel there are competitive matches coming...
  18. Yinhe Jupiter 3 Amazing Rubber

Well today I played a very heavy slicer, so it was a good chance to compare the Sanwei Target Pro 3 directly against H3 Blue Sponge. I found that the H3 was WAAAAY better at lifting the heavy slices. The Target Pro 3 has a very low throw angle, and a somewhat dead bounce. Against heavy...
  19. DHS W968 review

I've always thought that FZD's game would suits the 968 style. He has that massive forehand loop. And even his backhand isn't really the pure punchy-flat style BH, but is more of a looping spinny backhand.
  20. Weak FH , good FH rubbers. Any advice ?

That hasn't made it easy at all. You specifically claim to know which rubbers are toy rubbers and which are not. So I'd like to know your list. The user is completely separate from what you're talking about. Even if you gave me the best rubber in the world, I still wouldn't be a 2000 level...
