  1. ITTF set date on new ball

At least we have a long time to use up celluloid balls. Sure hope the new balls are 99% the same as current balls.
  2. December 2011 World Rankings!

Hey Dan, does this mean you have access to ranking lists from before January 2001? I've been on the lookout for such lists. If you can direct me to them I'd be most grateful :)
  3. How long can a player stay at the top?

Gatien and Apelgren could probably come out of retirement at reach 50ish. Lefty pride!
  4. Statistics from Grand Finals 2011

Good observation. The highest and lowest points tally matches are the other way round. A simple human error, I am shamed. :( The spreadsheet makes no errors. Eventually I'll be able to post screenshots directly from the database reports. Nice to see folks are checking up on the accuracy.
  5. Statistics from Grand Finals 2011

Eventually. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Statistics for rankings, tournaments, players, and results are all in the making. One day I will be able to show the player's Pro Tour record, highest world ranking, league results, age, left/right handed... etc... The details are extensive.
  6. CNT's 10-Man Squad for Olympics 2012

Agree with Pom, Wang Liqin is much more consistent these days. But either way, the 5th wheel probably won't play at all so who really cares. In another year we won't see Wang Liqin or Ma Lin at all. Yan An is ready to fill the gap. (and perhaps Fang Bo?)
  7. Statistics from Grand Finals 2011

Singapore's Gao Ning was the product of two of the four upsets in Open Men's Singles, through his victories over Ma Lin and Ryu Seung Min. Unusually, this tournament had the most upsets in the Under 21 womens qualification stage, where half of the matches were upsets. This caused 3rd and 4th...
  8. December 2011 World Rankings!

Ha Ha Ha... Yes, it was adequate, but I can do much better. Perhaps if time permits (which it will) on Jan 1st I can do a piece on 2012's prospects for up and coming players. Koki Niwa has been on the rise, far outstripping his doubles partner Kenta Matsudaira (to my dismay). But it's still good...
  9. December 2011 World Rankings!

December 2011 World Rankings This month there have been many notable changes in the World Rankings, the most interesting for me was Vladimir Samsonov's downfall. "If some climb the rankings; logically some must fall, the most notable casualty being Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus. The player...

  11. The Rally of the year 2011

The best rallies of 2011, in the best match of 2011. 2:53 and 9:10 ttGuru has spoken.
  12. Maze Documentary 2011 (NEW)

Very interesting. But quite old. Would have been nice to have his Euro Champs victory in there.
  13. Which player has the ugliest service action?

When you're watching the pro's battle it out, do you ever cringe at certain player's serves? Every time I watch Emmanuel Lebesson that's the case for me. Does anybody else think his serve is ugly? Another player who's recently caught my attention with his ugly serves is Jens Lundqvist. Reply...
  14. Ma Long supports TableTennisDaily

Is it just me, or is he missing half an eyebrow??
  15. ETTC 2011 (Team Event)

Don't overlook the Austrian team. Schlager may be past his prime, but Habesohn and Fegerl have a good future.
  16. Chinese National Championships 2011

Oh, and Ding Ning or Guo Yan will win the womens. ttGuru has spoken.
  17. Chinese National Championships 2011

Hard to say who will take the crown this year... It won't be Wang Hao or Wang Liqin, I'm confident. Probably not Chen Qi either. Xu Xin has an outside chance, and Ma Lin is unpredictable. If Hao Shuai plays like he did at Austrian Open, he may cause some upsets, but I still can't imagine him...
  18. How much potential does Ma Lin have in London Olympics?

Indeed, Ma Long truly is the best in the world right now. I agree his only weakness is against Wang Hao, but maybe not for long... Ma Long for London 2012 GOLD! watch and see ;)
