  1. Nexy Designer's Diary

I'm not saying it, physics is 🙂: F=mxa. The problem is that you are introducing a new variable into the equation which is the player. We are merely discussing the blade and its properties, by introducing the player you turn an objective situation into a subjective one. The speed potential is...

My apologies for hijacking your thread, I didn't mean to make you look bad in any way, it's only about conveying the correct scientific information to the public as this is a very important part for me and what I do. I stand by my words, I believe Nexy is one of the best brands when it comes to...
  3. Nexy Designer's Diary

I believe many things are being lost in translation Oscar, I still have an opposing view to many things you've said. I also come from a blade maker perspective, I've tried many many things over the years, there has been a lot of testing, experimenting and failure, in order to understand the...
  4. Nexy Designer's Diary

I truly respect Oscar as a builder. Out of the big brands, Nexy has always been one of the most innovative and out of the box. However, I do disagree with some of the things said here. The first being that hardness does not play a role in the speed of a blade, that is simply not true. A very...

#1270 - Asymmetric Inner - All-/Off- When a customer asks you to make a ST handle, but you make a mistake and create a Fl instead 😅. Well, I wanted to put something like this in here for a while, so I guess it was fate forcing me to do it. I guess you can call this a modern defensive blade, at...

If you are that impatient, I probably won't be able to help you, the waiting list is close to one year at the moment 😅
  7. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

I'm not sure when, but I intend to create a separate thread about this topic.
  8. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

They are different things, the wrb and senso "technologies" were always marketed focusing on the vibration and feel of the blade. Never have I seen (and correct me if I'm wrong) a manufacturer marketing such a process like this: here, take this handle hollowing, it makes the blade more head...

#1265 - Outer S-AC - OFF Looking for maximum sweetspot and crispness with one. European Walnut is denser than the Black (American) Walnut I normally use, and also denser than Koto. The Framiré on the medial layer is also denser than the Ayous that normally goes in there. Between them we have a...

If the nut was placed on the bottom portion of the handle, it would provide a more effective contribution to the balance.
  11. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

You are really overthinking things, it's just about weight. Some compositions are heavy and there's no getting way from it, mostly when we use Ayous cores. Sure, some may come out lighter because Ayous can be found with a wide density range, but even for the average density it normally results...

#1248 - Fake 5+2 - OFF-/OFF This is a unique blade, in the sense that, at least to my knowledge, there isn't any other like it (yet). I tried to design this blade like a tennis racket, the concept was to create a rigid frame supporting a more elastic center. So, we can see two fairly thick...
  13. DHS W968 Gold Slam, poor layer thickness uniformity

Of course they are even, they glue pre-sanded veneers, the blade has to be perfectly flat when it goes into the machine, otherwise the sanding is uneven. That's another option right there, just a piece of debris under the blade is enough to cause uneven sanding.
  14. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

It's not just for that blade, it seems to be standard for Donic blades made by Soulspin, here's a WC89: Of course, and it did happen to me actually, lesson learned. But in this case the handle is structurally sound, no need to panic about that. If the blade has to break, it will do so at the...

#1193 - Inner BS - ALL+/OFF- Inner structure with Hinoki outer layer. Too light to have significant power, but it's super soft and spin oriented. The handle is just Walnut, but the grain is oriented horizontally, instead of vertically as usual. It's much harder to work with this way, but it...
  16. DHS W968 Gold Slam, poor layer thickness uniformity

Some of these big brands, have huge wood planers that they use to bring the blades down to the correct thickness. So, they glued the blades a little thicker than needed, then use the planer to sand each side separately. They sand one side, lower the planer, turn the blade around and sand the...
  17. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

Not saying you are wrong, but I made handle swaps for pretty high level players, also built blades for them, and the 90g threshold is still there. I cannot say who's blade this was, but his main request was: please keep it at 90g. This was the most extreme case I've seen, now I understand the...
  18. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

I never removed the handle pieces on one of those so I cannot say for sure, but it's a pretty small handle so I'm guessing it's not, or at least not much. However, that density you speak of, has probably more to do with the construction itself rather than the handle being hollowed or not.

    #1160 - Outer BS - OFF- These seem to be quite popular, so here's another softy Vis. Available FS. - Koto / BS / Ayous / Kiri core - 92.3g - 5.85mm - 157x150mm - ST (101x28.8x23.0mm) - Balance: 2.5cm (Low)
  20. Want to know why Yinhe Pro 05 is so head heavy?

I recurrently have to say this to my customers: most commercial blades nowadays have hollow handles. I've removed a lot of handles from commercial blades over the years and the great majority had been weight reliefed to some degree. Many times my customers want completely solid handles and have...
