  1. Weight limits on rackets?

Well if the weight limit was 160g this would become a viable strategy particularly if one can twiddle effectively.
  2. Weight limits on rackets?

That’s what will make it interesting I think. Do you go with a smaller racket which won’t flex as much for looping and be more challenging in defensive actions? It still results in a compromise from the current OP 200g composite + H3/hybrid + Dignics/H3 meta.
  3. Weight limits on rackets?

Within this framework there could be sub-category allowing entries for rackets >190g 🤷🏻‍♂️
  4. Wich rubber right between V20 extra ans V15 extra

My perception: Rakza 7 ~ Vega Pro V20 Extra ~ Rakza X ~ Goldarc 8 47.5 V15 Extra ~ Fastarc G1 ~ Goldarc 8 50 V20 Double Extra (large gap) Rakza XX ~ V22 Double Extra ~ AGR These are in the same category of rubber being ESN manufactured, med-high to high arc, linear, easy to play and relatively...
  5. Weight limits on rackets?

Wouldn’t this actually encourage innovation within “junk” rubbers to make them more effective under the new conditions? At the end of the day, “junk” rubbers are still inherently weaker against SP hitters, allrounders, twiddlers and other material users who can launch stronger attacks from a...
  6. Weight limits on rackets?

I can’t figure out how you were able to jump to the conclusion a weight limit would result in your pips being taken away….? A weight limit would actually encourage more diversity in playing styles. Taking your 160g sweetspot as an extreme example: Your double inverted buddy uses the current...
  7. Weight limits on rackets?

The closest I’ve seen an attacker empty the tank vs a defender in a best of 5 was at this years WC Rd of 128 - Faraji vs Yang. It was unreal. What made it exciting was Faraji, still only 16 couldn’t just blast through Yang, not yet. But give it a few years and he will. If we apply power to...
  8. Weight limits on rackets?

Me: “12 layers is too much… why don’t you just go a softer hardness or use a faster blade and save on booster?” @lodro : “let’s start match, I’m not small pssy” Me: now typing with one good eye.
  9. Weight limits on rackets?

Yes my attacking rackets sit between 185-195g 😂 My main setup at the moment is ~193g. Super Vis 89g - D09c/G09c 2.1, G1 2.0 Defenders usually use a much lighter SP/LP on one side, meaning although their racket surface area is larger their rackets would easily be below a hypothetical 180g...
  10. Weight limits on rackets?

Well we can’t stop illegal boosting and with these new 2.7mm supermax sponges incoming, rackets will only get heavier and faster tilting it more toward double inverted loopers.
  11. Weight limits on rackets?

What do you think about limiting the maximum weight of rackets? It will give some much needed hope to defenders if the new formula was 180g or less.
  12. Need advice for blade and defense

Right gear helps but it’ll be the training that will make it count. I do think the non linearity of balsa is contributing to your lack of confidence in blocking. Balsa fits a specific niche - people with short term or pre-existing arm hand injury requiring the lightest and/or fastest setup...
  13. Need advice for blade and defense

I just looked into Devil Balsa and the outer material is “fineline” which turned my “find the same outerply” advice into absolute shambles 😂 So I learnt it’s the process of gluing veneers together into a block and making a ply out of it. So the wood material could be made up of anything. The...
  14. Need advice for blade and defense

Yeah sometimes even Olympians can miss the mark if there’s no real two way understanding. Though sometimes it could be about how you accept and receive feedback - a couple of others have hinted at it too, I think the word is etiquette? Maybe not the correct term, but sometimes your tone can...
  15. Need advice for blade and defense

Investing in coaching out bad habits would solve a lot of your problems in Q1. Around your level it’s very common: - hands start too low - mind, body and/or hands are too stiff - adding power instead of borrowing - blocking too early - flinching - lower body stability - weight going in wrong...
  16. All-wood blade, top layer hinoki, thickness over 6 mm.

Oh interesting! I would’ve thought the catapulty nature would not suit modern defenders. I did see Jian Fang Lay use it previously, though she is more of a close to the table ch. penhold chopblocker/twiddler.
  17. All-wood blade, top layer hinoki, thickness over 6 mm.

The 157x150 version of this is Victas Norio Takashima. It’s 6.7mm though only made in ST and sits around double the price of Masamune. FYI - Masamune is listed at 7.2mm, 154x155 headsize.
  18. Genius or Clinically Insane EJ

Some people put a few extra layers of varnish to get the result you are looking for. Dr Neubauer does this at the factory for some of their combination blades while Stiga go a step further and are famous for NCT as well as UV treatment hardening the surface on their CR blades.
  19. Clamant turmoil within ITTF.

The guys at T11.com just released this sitdown discussion including some snippets from the AGM.
  20. Joola upcoming blades 2025

@Matt Hetherington Are there any emerging technologies or design innovations from pickleball, like Joola’s NFC or enhanced edge guards that you think could realistically carry over into tt? 😉
