  1. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

I implemented hitting later, is it normal to have the ball disappear under your line of sight at the very last moment? At impact?
  2. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

Yeah this is very helpful and I think this is my problem. On reflection I do feel I focus on the backswing too early and it gets stuck and lose power like it has been already expended, especially with a shorter landing ball and I end up reaching out
  3. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

Don’t feed this troll guys. Zero input of value so far.. I hope you can at least be helpful with a justification of why/why not and not become lodro, son of Igor
  4. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

@blahness I think this is the reply I have been waiting for, although there have been excellent points made about the later timing, bounce point and the feet as the trigger points from @Zezima @Dr Evil @Tony's Table Tennis. I think using the hip as the trigger will naturally function as helping...
  5. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

I disagree with this as recognising the rhythm of the incoming ball, whether it is fast or slow or the varied placement is the key for consistency in training or in matches. Muscle memory is the opposite of recognising rhythm - shadow play with no ball is my understanding of building muscle memory.
  6. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

Yes correct, it’s good I could get the point of my issue across 😀 What is your trigger to start your backswing not too early?
  7. Continuous Backhand Looping against block - rhythm trigger

The Rhythm of flowing with the incoming ball so your body is in the correct position and you can hit at the correct timing. My trigger for continuous forehand looping is relaxing with my follow thru until the ball is physically blocked which acts as the trigger to start the motion back to and...
  8. [WRM] The "breaking" backhand and other types of topspin backhands

Ko is harder to master as you are in direct conflict with incoming topspin - both with your own topspin and forward momentum of the stroke towards the ball. As the description “topspin” suggests, the ball wants to react by going up and forward off your inverted rubber. The more incoming...
  9. Questions for Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Lee Sang Su

To both: how many coaches have they had and who were the most influential and why? At this point they can choose to give a shout out which would be a very nice touch!
  10. DHS Hurricane King acB Review

    What’s the head size?
  11. Fan zhendong, Ma Long and Cheng Meng announces Retirement from WTT/ITTF

Wonder if they thought through the scenario of mixed partners splitting (or in the case of Mizutani retiring if counting 2021), would that give Ito and any doubles combination partner automatic entry?
  12. How do I improve my backhand? (closed)

Far enough “where”? And elbow out in “which direction”? I understand your reason to be concise but without proper detail and qualifying it as it “ will fall into place naturally” this instruction can cause far more harm than good especially if the reader understands this meaning their elbow...
  13. What Joola blade/rubbers is Liam Pitchford using now?

Where is Liam starting his racket combination from? I say this as for me since the plastic ball my weakness is in defensive stability (or solidarity?) Especially in blocking the first highly spun ball and getting that sinking feeling of being overmatched during BH to BH rally exchanges. I’ve...
  14. Looking for best backhand 47.5 / 48 rubber for SALC

It’s refreshing to hear someone able to take accountability for their own shortcomings and not easily just place the blame on other external factors!
  15. Looking for a fh rubber for a modern chopper

Dragongrip 55 is not lacking in a major way either. If he likes his current set up another good suggestion is to only change one thing at a time, which would be the more pressing issue I feel with a blade designed specifically for modern defense. You’ll probably need a brand new set as his old...
  16. Looking for a fh rubber for a modern chopper

As he is already used to playing with boosted and heavy inverted, you can’t go wrong with Hurricane 3, probably start with orange sponge as it is more elastic and then when he can hit through it fully you can progress him to blue sponge.
  17. Looking for a fh rubber for a modern chopper

What was the reasoning to choose/let him continue with a 7 ply 6.3mm thick offensive blade as a modern defender? For chop defense, ideally you would want at least one if not most of the features: - larger headsize >158x152+ - 5 ply wood - thinner than 6mm …….unless, based on the fact that...
  18. What Joola blade/rubbers is Liam Pitchford using now?

From TTGearLab, “After testing two versions – inner and outer – of ‘ZX-Gear’ series, Liam Pitchford finally selected outer-fiber version – ‘ZX-Gear Out’ https://ttgearlab.com/2024/01/28/victas-liam-pitchford-photos-information/ Though yes he does seem representative of outer construction...
  19. What Joola blade/rubbers is Liam Pitchford using now?

From Liam’s POV can you give insight into the attributes he looks for in selection process? From the outside looking in, he has used all types of equipment - koto & limba, ALC & ZLC, inner & outer, jap type & hybrid. The only constant has been 7 ply and being a slim reaper!
  20. If you are the CNT boss, what would you do?

As a right hander I’ve always thought once you reach intermediate or advanced level and above, the ideal regular training partner would be a lefty with textbook topspin mechanics (as in little sidespin hook), as in my experience stable backhand speed rallying is typically the last foundational...
