  1. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Rumor has it WCQ's loss to Lind was to avoid another collision with LSD who devastated him in the last Macao. In that match, Wang was so overwhelmed he even copied a page from goat Ma Long by serving with backhand which didn't change a thing. :)
  2. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Based on how WCQ's current shape, doubt he can pass Ma Long. Ma's challenge is the red hot LSD if these two are able advance to the final.
  3. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Macao loss to LSD should also be added to his loss column. WCQ seems like a player who is unable to make a quick short recovery. He goes through period of playing hot followed by a period of being cold. These periods typically span several months.
  4. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Good analogy. In Xu Xin's case, Xu's most effective weapon was his spin play and Gauzy out-spun him in that game. Wang's main strength is his overaggressive and efficient first three shorts(serve, receive and third ball attack), Lind happens to be strong in that department and he used it more...
  5. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Wang edged out in the second game. Where is his usual dominance? In trouble again in the third.
  6. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

This happens often during deuce points.
  7. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Wang Chuqin had a shaky start and lost the first game to Lind. Seems he has been in a slump ever since he got his racket broken in Paris.
  8. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Isn't the characteristic of most young players? That's part of their learning process. I am sure next time these two meet, Miwa will do a much better job.
  9. Proposal for serve rule change in doubles

Good proposal. Currently, serving from the right corner favors heavily to lefties as they serve the most common way just like they do in singles. Serving from the backhand corner maximizes the forehand usage which is the major weapon for most players even if they have good backhands. One big...
  10. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Ito's fast and hard hitting style is hard for our beloved granny to handle. Plus, Ito has no problem with Ni's pits. Another 3:0 in store for Ito.
  11. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

I won't miss the upcoming match between Sora and Truls. Truls is already established and Sora is rising rapidly. The winner of the two will very likely face Harimoto. I'd love to see Truls against Harimoto. So far, the largest upset seems Harimoto's little sister Miwa as she was so hot entering...
  12. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

By 3:2, a very motivated Fan took down one of top women player in Wang Yidi.
  13. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

In-house fighting is happening on table 2 between Fan Siqi and Wang Yidi. Fan is taking game one. It will be an upset if she can take down Wang who has been playing good recently. Fan's playing style like Sun Yingsha downgraded by 2, quick and smooth on both wings. Just not as powerful as Sun.
  14. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

German's Duda is in action against Omar Assar. Omar's game is always fun to watch. However, after watching Duda got annihilated by LSD in WTT Maco by scoring only 6 points the whole match, I am routing for the poor German to rise up.
  15. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

As I anticipated, Miwa couldn't get pass Chinese pits player He Zhuojia. So, the high flying teenager's growing pain continues. Even though Japan has its own pits players in Kihara and Ito for Miwa to practice with, these two are attacking type with less consistency. He Zhuojia, on the other...
  16. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

I mean the overall global influence in terms of economy, geopolitics and military. Chinese table tennis has been dominating for the last 30 years, yet, you can see different attitude between recent generations of Chinese players and their old ones. The new generation players are more relaxed...
  17. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Yes, as a country's overall strength improves, so do its athletes and fans in terms of self confidence, openness and more sports and less political(patriotism) oriented.
  18. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

Thanks for the answer. You are a resourceful guy. I guess the main reason most pros got into the sport had to come from the love of it, rather than the pursue of the money.
  19. China Smash 2024, Beijing, 9/26-10/6

How is WTT price money distributed? Here is the problem: almost half of the players entered only plays one match before they leave. For these players, would the price money they get from just one match cover their trip expense(flight, room/board, etc..) assuming quite some of them are not lucky...
