Yeah, I agree, Manufacturer's wouldn't keep producing older rubbers if they didn't keep selling!!! they may also 'adapt' their own ratings to make an older product seem as if it's worse than the newer products!!!

If you are going to boost, read some threads about boosting, sometimes one booster is better than another when boosting the different sponges. Good for blue, bad for orange and vice versa!!

C2 must have been released about 4yrs or so ago, so now there are newer Hybrids that may be better. Xiom China Guang and C2 are very similar, released around the same time, ESN doubling up again!!

That might be the real reason for the change in tackiness levels, its better for attacking play!!

Keep the blade, whether you use it or not, in years to come it could be a collectors item. If it has a black butterfly logo on the end of the handle its value has increased straight away!!!

I've used TDE as well, everyone is different and for myself it didn't really feel that hard, comparable to some hard sponge Chinese rubbers (un-boosted)

Personally, I expect damage, so yeah edge tape helps, dents instead of splits. I don't bother sealing my blades, so I am extra careful when removing rubbers, type of glue is important. But if you really wany a pristine blade then buy 2 or 3 and keep 1 in its box unopened. I like the battle...
