  1. First Time Penholder: Help me out!

Good question. Leave a gap - head heavy, favours people with stronger wrist or plays FH dominant style No gap - feels more balanced, suitable for two wing playstyle
  2. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

@olive-nguyen @PenHoldSandro Keep improving. Penhold is very hard but not impossible. I trained too hard on third ball attack which doesn't work well in ABS ball anymore. Going all in with FH doesn't work that well anymore. The magic lies in numerous tricks in the spin games due to the...
  3. W968 National Question

I had a 2016 HL5, the one with a larger head, also this letter 968 (2017?). Like what you described, both feel like all wood. The HL5 feels more muted. The thing is the 2017 968 releases a tremendous amount of catapult power when power looping. This feel is less in the newer 968.
  4. W968 National Question

    Yes I have played old HL5, HL5X, new HL5, old 968 and new 968

  6. First Time Penholder: Help me out!

https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/just-curious-how-many-penholders-are-on-ttd.14157/ This thread was started in 2016 for penholders. Maybe we can revive the thread? 🔥🔥 Is Felix going to revive the penhold style? Time will tell
  7. Doubts-should i go to jpen rpb or stick to one sided jpen.

Thickness of the entire setup affects clarity of the feel. Two-side Jpen feels more muted than one-sided in my experience. Your recovery time is also slower with two-sided due to the weight. In today's game rpb is crucial. Unless you're Ma Lin it's pretty hard to win a match with just one...
  8. What kind of rubbers are long lasting and are controlable?

    3-6 hours per week
  9. W968 National Question

The new W968 feels more like outer ALC. DHS did it to improve its speed but reduce the spin and catapult effect. Sorry you feel that your W968 doesn't feel much difference from Long 5. They did a poor job for such an expensive purchase!! 😖 But I guess holding a W968 just feels great!! I...
  10. DHS Hurricane 3 versions in 2025

I can find reviews in a nation of 300 million tt fans. If you can read Chinese, wealthy tt fans have tested these rubbers on Bilibili. The 42 H3 has a sponge hardness of 41 and topsheet hardness of 43. The quality is so good that it feels soft, controllable and powerful as already confirmed by...
  11. Recommendation for upgrade Blade vs change the rubbers

You can try a slightly harder H3 and a 2mm R7 on BH on a Ma Lin Extra. Remember commercial H3 has poor QC, you never know what hardness you get.
  12. Recommendation for upgrade Blade vs change the rubbers

I would go for all wood first. Ma Lin Extra over 6mm thick is linear, controllable but explosive when hit hard. Not to mention it's also quite affordable.
  13. What kind of rubbers are long lasting and are controlable?

Xiom Vega China (6-9 months no issue) D09C (9-12 months) Provincial H3 (mine lasts for ages if you protect it well)
  14. First Time Penholder: Help me out!

Weight balance - penhold blades usually have a large dimension, hence more head heavy. I would suggest orange sponge H3 provincial 40 on FH. Penhold grip - (Wang Hao grip) Yinhe 05 Pro - inner ALC type. A bit soft so it will go well with Chinese rubbers both sides. I use TG3 on my W968 bh it...
  15. Recommendation for upgrade Blade vs change the rubbers

Change the blade. It’s too soft as you advance no matter what rubbers you put on it, it’s just not designed for today’s game. Go for faster 5-ply such as Yasaka Ma Lin extra, Stiga Celero or Stiga Intensity (quite fast).
  16. Viscaria, PG7, Korbel, Stuor CNF

Speed can vary depending on the type of shot. Take Fzd ZLC vs Vis for example. Close to table shot: ZLC is faster because it’s more crisp with less flex. In this category DTC feels more crisp than Vis Away from table: Vis is faster. It flex more as you hit harder = greater catapult effect...
  17. Viscaria, PG7, Korbel, Stuor CNF

What you're looking for is Donic true carbon. It basically has the same structure as Viscaria but slightly thinner and more crisp. FZD ZLC is another option I am currently using. It lands the shots easily even out of position but not as fast as Viscaria when you hit hard.
  18. What composite blade type is closest to offensive all-wood blade? (for example Acoustic)

LGY ALC or innerforce ALC. W968 feels nothing like all wood unless you hit it really hard
  19. Liang Jingkun signs with LOKI

Blue sponge 41 worked well with his W968, but too hard for his current ZLC blade. Back then he was younger, faster and stronger. With injuries and older age sadly he has to rely on ZLC for support. ZLC is already hard so 41 BS H3 just too hard on the BH.
  20. Going from inner to outer carbon blade?

I played DHS 301 before. It's an incredibly fast inner ALC blade thanks to the hard koto ply. The feel is crisp. The outer ALC with great feelings are Viscaria and ZJK ALC. Both have good crisp feedback but not too sluggish like FZD or LGY ALC.
