  1. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

This Truls - AJH match has had a lot of entertaining points already
  2. An Jaehyun shoes?

If this is true, I hope the players get better quality. I own a pair of the Sanwei ones and I do not find them to be good shoes. The materials are cheap and not very breathable; the insole offers little support; and the lacing system, while convenient, loosens as you play, requiring constant...
  3. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

I just watched the full match, and her forehands are truly unreal. She reminded me of WCQ on that side. It makes you wonder: Did Sabine master the FH to compensate for playing anti on the BH, or did she originally start playing anti on the BH so she could focus all of her energy on using her...
  4. Xiom Hugo Hal from a perspective of a Butterfly ALC User

Sweet, thanks! It actually seems to be about the same size as the handle on my JRE, and my friend's Palio. I'm using a fabric tape measure though so it's hard to say how precise my measurements are in comparison  Do I spy you're using Vega Korea? I just slapped a sheet on my BH and...
  5. Should a beginner-intermediate player play with intermediate equipment or just grow into high level equipment?

D05 can be pretty unforgiving, and I think it's easier to step up in rubber as your level progresses. I found Andro Rasanter R42 to be a great learning rubber for BH. It's got the punch of a tensor when you engage it but it's softer and more controllable while you're nailing down your strokes...
  6. Should a beginner-intermediate player play with intermediate equipment or just grow into high level equipment?

Do you have a coach? That's #1 for becoming a better player. If you're playing casually, get something that you can easily keep the ball on the table with and leave it at that. If you're taking lessons and actually improving your technique...consult your coach. They each have different views on...
  7. Gewo Aruna Hinoki Carbon Composition?

Can I ask where you found that? I did a lot of digging before posting here and couldn't find anything. Any idea if the carbon layer is the same material?
  8. Chinese Women! What would be their ranking if they were men?

What was the impetus behind this matchup? Why was she playing a middling-ranked American teen male anyway? 🤨
  9. Gewo Aruna Hinoki Carbon Composition?

Does anyone know the composition of this blade? It seems to be a Gewo-made version of the old JOOLA Aruna Off (which in turn was a rebranded JOOLA Rossi Emotion), but I can't find confirmation anywhere of the medial plies or carbon type; only Gewo's stated hinoki top ply and "softer wood core."...
  10. Xiom Hugo Hal from a perspective of a Butterfly ALC User

That would be awesome. Then I can take measurements of the YSE and my JRE and compare. Thanks!
  11. Xiom Hugo Hal from a perspective of a Butterfly ALC User

Recognizing this is an entirely subjective question—how's the FL handle on the HAL? I have a Xiom Vega Tour and the FL handle is pretty small. Is Xiom pretty consistent across handles, or have they changed it up? I feel like Hugo has pretty large hands and would suffer immensely if the HAL were...
  12. Table Tennis Shoes.

I also bought the Wave Drive 9 a few weeks ago and they were a huge improvement over the the previous two pairs of shoes I used. They weigh next to nothing and offer great stability. I wish I'd bought them sooner.

  14. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

Can we go back to this for a sec? Wang Hao's pose... 😆 I know it's a screen grab but Harimoto may as well be shaking hands with a statue of Wang Hao in some square in Changchun. (Unrelated: when looking up WH's birthplace I discovered we share a birthday! Clearly I'm destined for TT greatness...
  15. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

Even if so this is a public, international event. Harimoto can't be expected—by anybody, even Wang Hao—to just stand there and wait while the opposing coach finishes chewing out his player when cameras are on and Harimoto has an interview to get to. I imagine WH is aware of this. And if Harimoto...
  16. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

The American Dream is over... Also, Kanak lost 😞. (My money's on Kanak to recover sooner.) I think he surprised even himself with his results this tournament and I hope that builds confidence he can use to keep pushing deep into WTT events. Personally I hope Truls takes the semi against WQC...
  17. Help Us Pick the Best Doubles Team!

I lean toward trials for the reasons you stated originally, but have any of them played doubles together before? I agree that chemistry and familiarity with your partner's playstyle can be more important than pure skill. Also, pairing one left- and one right-handed player is common practice.
  18. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

Me watching game five slip away and thinking Dang Qiu is about to rattle off four straight games: Me after Kanak comes back from two game points down to win the match:
  19. Soft Sticky?

I'm seeing Mercury II is actually 41' - I had no idea it was that hard. That's 3 degrees harder than his current H3. Does it play that hard? I always thought M2 was softer for some reason, but I haven't used it.
