  1. SDC Handmade Blades

This is a fully experimental blade, and one of the weirdest I ever built. It starts with the composition, it's a center composite blade which is very unusual, it doesn't get more "inner" than this. The idea was to make a very flexible blade, so I used a hard carbon layer in the center to avoid...

    Thanks!
  3. SDC Handmade Blades

The composition of the Acoustic is Limba / Limba / Kiri. I know it says Tung everywhere online but that's wrong, it's a translation error that got propagated. The Acoustic is one of the few blades that actually has Limba in the medial layer, in fact it has a thick medial layer which pairs well...
  4. SDC Handmade Blades

This question doesn't have a direct answer. Basalt is a heavy fabric, I'm using a 200 g/m2 cloth and it's only 0.15mm, while my 165 g/m2 AC# is 0.25mm. This means that, if I swap AC# for BF in that composition, in order to maintain the same total thickness, I have to make up for the missing...
  5. SDC Handmade Blades

Nope, it's wrong... Ayous, not Limba.
  6. A somewhat flexible composite blade with a soft feeling

Probably about half the price. But yes, the wait 😅
  7. SDC Handmade Blades

But Vis SALC also has Ayous in the medial layer, most Butterfly outer blades do... In this case the crisper feeling comes from the fiber (and lamination method), as I've mentioned, this feels softer than SALC.
  8. SDC Handmade Blades

Outer blades are usually built with Ayous next to the core, not Limba, so I think your question would be better put the other way around. Limba is heavier and harder than Ayous, so you get a heavier blade obviously (all else being equal), slightly harder touch but a bit more power on harder shots.
  9. SDC Handmade Blades

Faster but softer, that's what everyone wants, right? S-AxC is the fabric on my stock with the biggest speed/softness ratio, comparatively speaking it's slower than SZLC but softer, about the same speed as SALC but slightly softer too. Available FS. - Koto / S-AxC / Ayous / Kiri / Ayous /...

And now the inner fiber version with the Diolen-Carbon fabric. Because the fiber layers have less relative distance between them, you get much less increase in stiffness compared to the outer version, but it's still more than you usually have at this speed range. This helps to control the throw...
  11. SDC Handmade Blades

I really need to start posting all the cool stuff I've been making 😅
  12. SDC Handmade Blades

Yes, that one had a lower frequency reading, but despite that, these ones were even slower.
  13. SDC Handmade Blades

That's the next step, build it out of steel and put a small heater inside for the winter days. I will make millions 😂
  14. SDC Handmade Blades

There's a lot going on with this one. People often ask me for a slower Viscaria, and normally I recommend I-C, but that's still not that slow. Here I'm using a Diolen-Carbon fabric, it only has Carbon running vertically and Diolen horizontally. Diolen is basically polyester, so you get all the...
  15. SDC Handmade Blades

Balsa has a reputation for being fast, but in reality it's really slow. There is a lot of variation in density of course, but generally, Balsa is a lot lighter than any other wood used it TT blades. The reason why it's associated with fast blades, is because it's often used in thick cores paired...
  16. SDC Handmade Blades

It doesn't have to be rubbish, it may play amazingly well, it just doesn't have a significant enough difference in composition between sides, so that you can perceive some difference in performance.
  17. SDC Handmade Blades

These ones were probably the slowest blades I've ever built, virtually no bounce. Hinoki / Kiri / Balsa / Kiri / Hinoki, 5.2mm and 1076Hz. One of those cases where the frequency is very misleading.
  18. SDC Handmade Blades

Well, that's basically fast + fast, not a fair ground for comparison 😅
  19. SDC Handmade Blades

Hey! I get requests for them every now and then, so yes I have made a few.
  20. SDC Handmade Blades

Ok nice, you do you, but there are some people out there who like to use the same type of rubbers on each side, so having a blade with different sides helps. Also, for example, if you offensively with the Fh and defensively with the Bh using pips, having a blade that provides a better synergy...
