  1. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Very fair comment - walk before run I guess ;-)
  2. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Thanks buddy - there is just such a lot of generous help on this thread of yours, so I am very grateful. If you work on that then improvement comes!
  3. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Maybe there’s a middle ground but my typical more vertical brushed BH loop is not dangerous enough vs pushed serve return, and often comes back as a block or counter - I’m looking to capitalise on a push return and attack it to some degree When I’m in position.
  4. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Thanks IB, I can see what you’re pointing out here re elbow stability and use of wrist - and it makes sense.
  5. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

I generally tend toward slower, higher trajectory loops on both sides but have been working with my coach on a more penetrating loop, taken earlier at top of bounce and in particular on half long balls such as I get on return of my serves. Look at 7:30 in for the shot I’m looking to generate
  6. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

I stumbled across this blade but really like it for it’s feel and balance.
  7. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Thanks NL, appreciate the feedback. Good pointers on the BH, and I will work on this tomorrow at club night - we often end up with some good doubles and for whatever reason I always find myself with a lot more opportunities to attack backspin on both wings.
  8. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Thanks Latej - good idea as I need to build that feeling up more. I will give it a try!
  9. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Thanks - I did use my club practice session last night to work on this and take what flowed in shadow practice into hitting balls. On balance I was very pleased - as long as I focused on dropping that right knee and turning the hips then it seemed to naturally drive a less shoulder dominant (and...
  10. Viscaria alternatives

Plenty of used Viscaria's available - I would go that route as they are still the best option in my view.

I look forward to heating your thoughts once you try it - mine just feels really good in hand as well as very controllable to play with.
  12. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Your observation skills are on point - thanks. I see her knee pointing outwards then rotating towards the front and her shoulder increasing in height as she straightens up post contact. I find it a struggle to get the two different planes - lower body height staying level as it rotates but...

  14. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Ha! You’re 100% right - each time I forget something and remember something else! I want to power loop right now on both wings - when I look at the Emma video she seems to kick up more than forward so but she seems to be taking the ball at top of bounce?

Makes sense, I’m not a fan of larger head sizes or head heavy blades. My 968 was the standard size head but was still head heavy and so felt less well balanced to me.
  16. Post your latest EJ purchase

Ouch! I prefer it for a couple of reasons - it’s heavier and more solid feeling, with a far more comfortable handle and i love the balance - it feels lighter than it is when in hand. It’s also a beautifully made blade with far better finish than any DHS blade I have owned. Playing...
  17. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Lol - it’s definitely effortful! I agree completely though that it doesn’t look relaxed or free flowing but that’s maybe me trying to force a change.
  18. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Hi all - I did some work on this today and recorded a shadow practice and then some hitting. Shadow; FH BH I think I see an improvement in a more compact and less shoulder led stroke, with more lower body action?
  19. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

    Thanks for these IB!

Innerforce ZLC (93g) - really surprised by how much I like this blade. Slower than my Viscaria but not by much, and has that slightly woodier feel.
