  1. Help me to find the name of the player

That video doesn't say his name, but it did mention the club he plays for and through that I was able to find his name which is Zhu Zhenyu. Here's another video of him playing. Apparently he used to be a member of the August 1st team (as was Liu Guoliang, Wang Hao, and Fan Zhendong)...
  2. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2024, Chengdu, 12/1-8

I treat it more as an amateur vs. pros event lol. It was great watching local players like Hwan Bae going up against WCQ and almost taking a set, or Zhang Xiangjing going up against a WTT regular like Nick Lum!
  3. Blade broken in half, did this ever happen to you?

Exactly, has to be outside factor. Someone sat on it or stood on it or dropped something heavy on it.
  4. ITTF World Youth Championships 2024, Helsingborg, 11/22-29

I haven't watched Zong Geman play much, but it was puzzling watching her play vs. Kaufmann. Zong's opening loops were exclusively to the middle of the table, there was literally zero variation, and in both BH openings and rallies I'm not sure I saw once where she hit a BH down the line shot to...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

No, I'll be on the east coast during that time unfortunately.
  6. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Sorry, I didn't remember it quite right. I went back and watched his video again, he actually said that Kiri doesn't vary too much in terms of "good" vs. "bad", so wood quality isn't a major factor. He said that he asked some TT blade factories as well as some equipment enthusiasts who make...
  7. San Francisco looking for training partner.

On a Chinese bilibili channel, this one reviewer/vendor said he talked to some blade makers, and they think besides using a higher quality wood (he asserts that high quality wood is in shorter supply than before) that the golden Vis also uses an extra glue layer with the composite layer. To...

My new stroke is now fairly good, at least in practice. Consistent, powerful, more topspin and less sidespin. I'm still tinkering with the weight transfer though. I have tried a straight right to left weight transfer, that didn't work due to a lack of rotation. I then tried adding rotation...
  9. ITTF World Youth Championships 2024, Helsingborg, 11/22-29

I gotta say, Faraji's choing is not making a fan out of me. It's one thing to cho like Harimoto, it's quite another to cho so much after an edge/net ball. Last match vs the Taiwanese kid I thought was rather disrespectful, choing so much after winning the match off of 2 straight net/edge points...
  10. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

Yes that's right, the 2nd line from the top, so the 2nd lowest position. You can actually lower the robot even lower than the top line, so it does have the advantage there. So how did you get your retrofit? I think that'd be an interesting addition to the Powerpong/Amicus. As for the position...
  11. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

Anyhow, I made some more precise measurements. From the table to the middle of the ball would be ~235mm. Which is slightly below (~10mm) where the middle of the ball would be when it hits the top deflector on my Amicus Prime when set to the middle red line.
  12. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

Yes, that was one of my concerns as well. You can of course make the launch point higher by putting something beneath the robot, but not lower. With that said, I've found that to be less of a concern over time. When I first got the Amicus Prime, I actually had it on the lowest possible setting...
  13. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

The Amicus Prime and the Powerpong have a small keyfob sized Bluetooth controller. It's super useful and I hope pongbot adds it too. I could hold that in my left hand and start/stop the drill whenever I want. With the pongbot I have to run to the Epad or my tablet and hit stop while the robot...
  14. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

Yes, that's exactly what happens. It's like the balls form an "arch" over the hole where it feeds into the machine. Personally I think if the feeder uses something more substantial than thin metal rods to stir the balls it'd solve the issue. Right now the rods are not able to collapse the "arch"...
  15. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

Oh right, it was about 9 (~230mm) inches from the table to the bottom of the ball, similar to the Amicus Prime when set to the middle red line (as the ball deflects from the top deflector). That was a quick measurement, I'll do a more exact one tomorrow.
  16. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

I use 200+ balls, there are def frequent "jams". It's not a matter of pressure, I don't think, maybe you just haven't used it long enough? I don't recall many instance during my first few months using it, but now it's very frequent. Anyhow, where did you get the retrofit mechanism? I'd like to...
  17. Pongbot table tennis robot - review and comparison

I just received my Halo S Pro and did some basic setup stuff. I have to work tonight so not much time to test it out extensively. After more thorough testing I'll write a thorough review, with the Butterfly Amicus Prime as the primary comparison. Here are some first impressions thus far. 1)...
  18. What elo rating is TTD and Pongfinity?

I think Timo's TTR was in the 2600-2700 range.
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

That is EXACTLY the change I've been making! I used to try to hit into the blade using an open racket, and then close down over it. The process inevitably introduces a ton of sidespin. That's not the main issue, however, as the main issue comes when I try to use that stroke as a basis for all...
  20. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

After that last post I've had 2 practice sessions with my practice partner. The first one was a mess for my FH. I seemed to unable to replicate my newfound technique. With the faster speed and variations due to playing a real person, there were just too many variables. In between, I had a...
