Lee is just exploiting Kaufmann's weak short forehand receive Anyone knows what the German bench is saying?
  2. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Damn I wanted short pips to win. Time to release the SuperKaufmann.
  3. Paris Olympic Games 2024

I can't believe they've forced a decider. Footwork is a mess but I feel like Yuan and Shan are finally playing out the advantage of their pips.
  4. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Only Wan Yuan can make Gozo like pips. German girls are making this competitive by bringing their forehand smashes out. Wan even fell to the ground to commit to a smash to take the 3rd game.
  5. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Still a big ask but could be a career defining match for Wan Yuan. She's already 27 and unlikely to make it for the next Olympics under normal circumstances.
  6. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Germany's chances of winning bronze will likely be decided on whether they can take the first doubles.

Criticism against Harimoto is so strong that even JOC has stepped to issue a statement, lol? https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20240810/k10014545011000.html 張本智和への負担が大きかった”良い面も不安な面も Huge burden on Tomozaku Harimoto reveals good and bad sides (of the young team) Tomozaku: Rather than...
  8. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Whatever the case, not congratulating an athlete for their Herculan effort is just plain rude. Chen Meng won her singles Olympic berth and Olympic gold fair and square.
  9. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Shan Xiaona is a bit too old to play aggressively with penhold short pips. If she adopted a style similar to Gao Jun she might have more success.
  10. Paris Olympic Games 2024

H Hey hey, give some credit to Rachel Sung. Besides Batra, she's the only other one who took a game off superKaufmann.
  11. Paris Olympic Games 2024

I think Korea and all those who drew China in MS feel a lot more unlucky than the other way round. Tomo beat the MS silver medalist and had matchpoints against the MS bronze medalist so he definitely deserved to be in the Top 4 to fight for a medal. If anything he's the unluckiest this Olympics.
  12. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Miwa has reliable teammates who can pick up the slack when she falters, Tomo less so. The competition on the men's side is also way tougher.
  13. Paris Olympic Games 2024

I think she's weakest in the Olympic context. Her technical skills may have surpassed Hirano but based on her post match interview where she said she felt 'nothing but relief' it seems that she still can't handle the pressure. My feeling is that Hirano and Hayata would have at least found a way...
  14. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Miwa's easily the weakest on team Japan but I don't have hope that Hayata and Hirano will do better. Based on matches in recent months leading up to the Olympics it feels like China has decoded all of them already.
  15. Paris Olympic Games 2024

I'm not confident that the girls' final will be as competitive tomorrow based on Miwa's performance yesterday but hopefully they prove me wrong.
  16. Paris Olympic Games 2024

WCQ finally wins against lob with a dropshot
  17. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Truls has left his forehand corner wide open since the men's singles final until now.
  18. Paris Olympic Games 2024

I think he meant enthusiastic crowds minus the overly nationalistic flavour. I much prefer this crowd that purely enjoys the sport and roots for the underdog too.
  19. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Amazing match. Made it a close fight after a terrible start. No shame in this loss whatsoever.
  20. Paris Olympic Games 2024

Umpire is calling the scores really slowly. Was in the middle of calling out the score when Felix served at 6-4, didn't even bother calling a let and seemed like Shinozuka was distracted.
