  1. China Super League 2016 (CTTSL)

On which timezone is this? Just to have a clue about the time it will be in France for those games.
  2. Looking to get All+ to Off- CPenhold Blade

Yes indeed for the P500 and P700. As for the W6, it's said to be a touch faster than the YE. Haven't played both at the same time, but I've read it quite often.
  3. Looking to get All+ to Off- CPenhold Blade

Reading your initial post, I was immediately thinking of the Yasaka Sweden Extra as well. ALL+, well-known and appreciated among penholders. It's quite thin, between ALL+ and OFF- I think, with good control. Really the first name that came to mind. The Stiga OC might be a good idea as well...
  4. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

I believe speed glue ban brought longer rallies (even more now with P-balls), and therefore need for even smoother forehand-backhand transition and more power even away from the table... which might be a weak point at pro level for penholders, except for some exceptional athletes.
  5. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

I was wondering if RPB could be a reason for penhold style to "come back". I often read that less and less children are trained to learn penhold in China, because it usually takes more time to learn (1 or 2 years in difference to reach the same fully developed technique between shakehand and...
  6. China Super League 2016 (CTTSL)

Same here, and I only managed to find the same video as you... but the quality is really poor unfortunately.
  7. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Glad to see there are other former shakehand players who decided to switch over to penhold grip :) Do you intend to switch totally to penhold and stop playing shakehand, or maybe you don't know yet? Do you play "traditionnal" backhands with the forehand rubber, or RPB backhands with the backhand...
  8. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

I've spotted an interesting comment under the vid, here's what the guy (GainsBrah) says : Maybe it helps ;)
  9. Learn RPB the Wong Chun Ting style

Thanks for sharing those videos. I've not watched WCT so often, and I'm a bit surprised by his grip, especially for a RPB player. I would have thought he'd have his fingers more extended and flat, like XX or Wang Hao, but not at all.
  10. My experience with Copydex

Yes you're right, mine's a 125ml. My previous bottle was a 250ml (I suppose same as yours) and when I switched between it and another 125ml "new formulation" bottle, difference was really noticeable (tested with both an old 125ml "new formulation" bottle and a one I had just bought). Anyway, as...
  11. My experience with Copydex

Well I just checked and the exact label is "new improved formulation". I found this one to be much easier to peel off the rubber afterwards. Otherwise, both formulations work fine but I tend to prefer the "new improved formulation" ones now.
  12. My experience with Copydex

Wow that's pretty exhaustive :) Personnally, I use one layer of copydex on the rubber and one on the blade, let them dry, and then apply. Gives a fairly decent result, it's important not to put too much glue though. I always add a bit of water inside the glue to make it easier to apply, but not...
  13. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Hey guys ! This thread's a really good idea ! So, another penholder here... well, very recent penholder : it's barely been 6 months since I officially switched from SH to PH. Previously, I had been playing SH for about 15 years, decent level. I loved playing PH from time to time for fun. And...
  14. Around penhold grip

If you're counting me in, then it's more three and a half penhold players ;) I keep on following this thread anyway, and hope there will be many more answers !
  15. Fundamentals of shakehand vs penhold grip

Hey Archosaurus, and thanks for this thread! I'm a lefty, currently trying to transition from shakehand to penhold and I've been searching for information and advice about the grip, to avoid learning strokes with the wrong grip. What I've seen coach explain is that the thumb is really important...
  16. Service Vs Blade

Yep, I did use the same rubber (Xiom Vega Pro rubber, yeah I know, XVP rubber on XVP blade... ;) ) and it was really surprising to me as well, so that's why I particularly remember this. I suppose a bouncy / "catchy" blade makes a lot of difference, but like you, and considering what you say...
  17. Service Vs Blade

I do not agree, blade does impact the spin you impart to the ball, both in game and during the serve. For instance, I remember perfectly when I tried the Xiom Vega Pro blade. It was the first time I did impart so much spin in my serve, it was really easy to make my backspin serve quickly return...
