I was at the Swedish national champs yesterday and today, there were some epic games. Truls is just too strong. Just some out of this world serve and receive, deception in the open game, power and feeling. It truly looks and feels alien to me to be able to play like that. PS. you can see the...

The coordination and control/ball feeling this man has is out of this world
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Today we had a player from the UK visiting us to help us out in our final league match. What a point :D and the comment from the Danish player :ROFLMAO:
  5. Is body type giving any form of advantage?

This reminds me of the time FZD said he likes eating nutella.. :ROFLMAO:

I'm still struggling with some injury in my right knee and hip, the fysio says it's muscular.. I've been pretty bad at doing the exercises lately as not much seems to help. Been a bit demotivated, but it will of course only get worse if I ignore it.. so it's time to take it more seriously again.

Thanks, but don't get tricked by the highlights :D. It's also special playing against someone you've trained with a lot. As for your question, for anyone that's interested I should probably provide a bit of context as just saying x years played doesn't say a whole lot. Maybe I'll make another...

It's not easy to win points against this guy when: 1. I can't hit hard 2. I get read like a book 3. He gets everything back A while ago we had an identical point that went on a little longer AND he got that last shot in. This is why we will try to record every match :ROFLMAO:

It's amazing you can get this power even with your knee issues, you've worked around the problem nicely. Of course, it does put a bit more pressure on timing. Your FH and BH look quite balanced to me. Playing closer to the table like this is how I "should" play :D
  10. Developing player with some potential :)

I don't think it's so much that they don't take interest, but that they just don't know how to coach adults well and some just rattle off the most common advice because that has "worked" when coaching young players. Kids imo, learn more through playing a ton, messing around, copying good...
  11. Developing player with some potential :)

It's funny that you mention the leg pushing thing, because it was you who gave me similar advice and as you saw the very next session I had, it made some difference. I can only speak for myself here, but I've had many many misconceptions about technique and getting these perceptions kind of...

Don't discount the DJ, he might put us in a trance.

It's his style, I usually open more. Actually this time I got really tired and gave away many openings in the end.. it was 3 best of 5 after all. They were even but he took all 3 this time. Usually he has a slight edge against me. Just too consistent and I make more mistakes.

I believe Lula made that comment last too 😆 Antonis has never played tennis, but he has been involved in many other sports. Golf, handball, soccer and more. Our styles make for some really enjoyable points. I don't usually get this with other players 😀 We've also trained a ton together, we know...
  15. Why do I get so nervous when playing a match?

The "winning against players I should beat" seems to be common at all levels. I've really tried to reframe this as it has happened to me many times. The truth is imo that those players often have some good qualities, it's just that they don't fit the model of what we imagine a "good" player to...
  16. Why do I get so nervous when playing a match?

Yeah this hits me hard as well lol. So many times I've been nervous - gone on to play erratically or stupidly, get more frustrated and throw away point after point. It really feels awful and worse than having actually lost the match. The more difficult but better approach is to learn to just be...
  17. Why do I get so nervous when playing a match?

In my experience, we need to be okay playing with nerves. There is no magic trick to just remove them, but by learning to be more ok with them and with enough exposure they should affect your play less and probably lessen a bit. You can also think about what's driving your nerves and maybe...

Thanks for the kind comment NL. People should be even happier about your and the other members like you, Carl, Echte, BRS etc contributions to helping adult learners. I keep track of most of the posts and they are very motivating.

Hi all, I usually post my videos in the TTD chat thread, but I thought I'd make my own thread and post everything here from now on. I don't record many of my matches these days, so we'll see how much activity there will be. But I'm trying to record more of my matches against some of my...
