  1. Changing from Penhold to Shakehand

Pricey11, I am pretty sure I am nowhere near your level. As an oldschool penholder, I use one side/TPB. Lately I've played a little SH to try to learn RPB a little. TTD member ttmonster seems to think I should convert to SH. A few clubmates mentioned I have decent SH and should convert also...

Some thoughts/adjustments hitting with the American Hinoki CPen/Tenergy 80-FX (was thinking last night why i miss some shots and they don't land on the other side of the table): * the setup is very fast for me and very bouncy * i am used to playing with chinese rubbers/slower rubbers and/or...

Heh heh ... i can relate ... I'm thinking, "Let NL (or Der_Echte, Carl, PPH, 42&bp) loop, i can block it." and you/they loop and i don't even see it LOLOLOL

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Samsonov "He is known in China as the "Tai Chi Master" because of his superb all-around style, both offensive and defensive." Not sure if that would be: "tai kik si"/"taji shi" (cantonese/mandarin) - but that's one way to translate Tai Chi Master ... am...

Forgot the exact nickname the Chinese have for Waldner, but it's something like 'forever young' ... so yeah lol

LOLOL -- you haven't seen how bad my SH FH is lately - or even looping lol Not knocking Shuki (sorry brother, really i'm not) - I have pretty much same cocked wrist SH FH stroke as he does (i think) ... sometimes i cannot aim properly, it does make it a random practice which is ultimately good...

Random googling for a pic of JJL and came across it, i believe it was the legend's tour, but it definitely is JJL. JJL and the rest (or select members) of the CNT circa 1987 visited NYC and gave a demo. It was very cool! 42andbackpains or our mutual friends may recall the rest of the team that...

I played last Thurs, neglected to post last Friday 2 hrs straight... only trained, no matches... varied between osph, modern PH and SH. was so into the flow of the training, neglected to video. Hitting SH BH, a higher level member walked past and commented i should switch to SH ... First...

I doubt a week+ off will have you playing at my level, perhaps 1800, but not 1200!

Not feeling 100%, not sure what it is. I'm not physically sick or anything but i didn't feel 100%. Played Mark Berg last night... always have fun playing him. Using him as a barometer to see my current level. He is 65 yrs old (i'm 52), lefty SH with anti on his bh, doesn't twiddle. IMO he has...
  15. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

About 2 or 3 months ago, fellow TTD member 42andbackpains and I met up with our old table tennis crew and played for the day. One of my friends/brothers from the TT crew gave me his old Butterfly Taksim Arylate-Carbon blade. I didn't ask what happened to the blade, but you can see i need to...

Ah yeah, doubles should be played in the middle - will change the strategy of the whole match. I do not remember how many members were allowed per team. If a team reached 6 wins, the rest of the games need not be played. No official ratings points were won/lost.

FWIW - 30+ yrs ago, I used to play in a Friday night league ... format was 11 matches - 9 S and 2 D, in that order. So if the teams are relatively even, one team will go into the 10th match, the first Doubles match, with a 5-4 lead and we used to practice doubles often for this reason.

Awesome finish Sir! Nothing to sneeze at. Very respectable! Seems nerves/confidence is still a challenge for you. Not sure what to say other than relax (and yes, i face the challenge of learning to relax also).
