  1. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Yeah LJK is really really feeling it. I've never seen him looked so fatigued. I actually don't recall seeing another top level player look so fatigued during a match. Wonder if he's sick or something? Alexis making him move for sure but seems like there's gotta be more to it than that.
  2. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

I wasn't around at the time. Did people think that Harimoto was likely be a dominant #1 WR? Or did they think he had a chance to be? What was the general concensus? For me, high hopes would be if that player had even a 10% chance of medaling in the Olympics. Not saying Matsushima is there yet...
  3. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Not calling for retirement but said something about how he's a false hope for 2028 Olympics. Kinda bizarre to write him off so early but people have their opinions I guess. I'm just amazed the kid I watched in Bobrow videos just a few years ago when I still hadn't picked up a racket is getting...
  4. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Was being cautiously optimistic. Didn't have the benefit of getting to watch the 5th
  5. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Very impressive mental fortitude from Sora Matsushima at the end of Game 4 there. Got barely edged at 10-9 match point to get it to deuce. Then lost another point to a net ball. Still managed to win the game and take it to the decider. Kid only 17 and already somewhat competitive with the WR...
  6. Satoshi Aida's equiptment

Pretty interesting how his chops on the BH side make the same popping sound as smashes and punches.
  7. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

What a match between WYD and Polcanova. Both saved 3 match points each in the 5th but it was ultimately WYD that got the job done. One of the best matches today.
  8. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Assar playing on God mode in that 2nd game against Harimoto. Never seen him so in the zone. HT couldn't get a ball past him no matter what he tried. The rallies in this match are insane. Really entertaining stuff!
  9. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Woah. Zhang just blew 4 match points including a sitter on 10-9 that she sent off the table. Then was down a match point on her own and I thought for she wouldn't be able to get her mind back in it. Instead she wins the next 3 pts for her best win in a long time. Great match and mental...
  10. Backhand topspin tutorials are useless

Thanks for the info and perspective. I'll spend some time watching that video at some point since I'm actually interested in the theory of skill acquisition. From what I've read so far, I'll agree that performing a technique at a high level eventually means not thinking about how it's done...
  11. Backhand topspin tutorials are useless

Maybe we are describing different things. While under pressure with faster balls to my backhand I usually revert to a block. I'm pretty sure when I start meeting better players that send stronger balls to my BH, I'll need to develop a compact BH loop that looks like 'arm only.' But I'm guessing...
  12. Backhand topspin tutorials are useless

I think a weighted wristband might help for different reasons. Something weighted enough that makes it uncomfortable to quickly flick your wrist and/or only your arm muscles will give you an incentive to use your body to generate force. If your body senses that it'll fatigue one link in the...
  13. Post your latest EJ purchase

How is the Sieger PK50 at BH punch shots?
  14. Sanwei Fextra 5, new blade?

Let us know how it goes. The specs and pictures don't even really give us an idea of how thick it is or what the layers are. Even the outer layer is clearly koto in the first picture and then clearly limba in the next few photos. Might be a great beginner blade if it's under $15.
  15. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

Yeah I know, I'm just pointing out the reason why you have particular issues with Loki atm. It's more to due with them putting out new rubbers that are good and cheap enough to consider buying. We don't question the ratings of manufacturers that have established best sellers because they are...
  16. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

If Loki pisses you off in this regard then every other manufacturer should. Some examples: Nittaku S-1 marketed as 45d sponge when it's actually 41-42d. Xiom Vega Euro marketed as 42.5d when many are under 40d. Incorrect hardness ratings are probably rampant in the entire industry. You're...
  17. Sanwei 75 Inner versus Yinhe 970xxA?

I went from Fextra to Sanwei 75 Inner using the same rubber (Loki Arthur China) and it required a more closed racket angle adjustment. So it might not be the boosting that's causing the issue. Think some carbon blades will just throw higher than Fextra. Had similar issue with Stuor Harimoto clone.
  18. Anders Lind discussing illegal serves

No I didn't ask him. My question was posed as a joke anyway but it doesn't seem like people are picking up on it. See the first letter of each line of the question.
  19. Recommend Butterfly Blade - (Petr Korbel or Maze Advance or Falcima)

Reviews on Revspin or whatever are basically completely useless. Whoever is writing them has different expectations, playing styles, and/or is using different rubbers than you. The only way to truly understand how equipment feels is to actually use it yourself. The cheapest way of doing this...
  20. Anders Lind discussing illegal serves

Someone in the comment section asked him who was the biggest cheater with illegal serves but Lind declined to answer ;)
