  1. Is it the right approach to try to return every backspin serve with a backhand flick?

I'm sure someone else will provide a more detailed response to your main question, but have you considered that the reason why the majority of serves you get are backspin serves to your BH is because the opponents know they have a 66.6% chance of winning the point?
  2. 729 Dragon F

The name and the logo on the topsheet are extremely cool, but I recall hearing that it plays like a slower and less dynamic version of Battle 2. Maybe you can compare it to B2 as well or instead?
  3. Loki Rubbers

Mine for sure is 100% non tacky. Ordered off Aliexpress from GOO store. The only reason why I thought it would be tacky is because Wakkibatty has mentioned in this thread that it is very tacky. In other news, I've just glued a sheet of Loki Rxton 1 Plus to my 2nd Sanwei Fextra and will try...
  4. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

I've been only watching TT for 6 months or so, but FZD vs Lin Shindong was the highest level of play I've personally witnessed in real time. That point to save match point in the 4th game was probably the highest level rally I can remember.
  5. What makes certain rubbers so popular?

Popularity and success of most things are going to be unevenly distributed and over time the popularity of the already-established leaders will increase. Social media and discussion forums magnify this effect. Rubbers like G-1 and Rakza 7 are good rubbers that will generally work for most people...
  6. Review Yinhe Moon 12 Blue

Have you played with Moon Pro long enough to enlighten us with an indepth review? Seems to be a rubber that I hear talked about in places like Eastern Europe and Indonesia, but not with not in English speaking forums.
  7. Top 10 Blades. Do you agree?

I only am aware of Southeast Asian Games as a reference point, but Vietnam has come in 3rd to Singapore and Thailand in the 2017, 2019, and 2021 games in terms of medal count. They did win Gold in men's singles in 2021 though which is a very promising development. Vietnam has almost no WTT...
  8. Top 10 Blades. Do you agree?

This is a great channel and the production value is excellent. I've noticed that Hanoi has much more table tennis clubs than Saigon, so I'm glad that these experienced players and coaches are starting to share their knowledge on Youtube. Now if only Vietnam can implement with a National rating...
  9. Top 10 Blades. Do you agree?

I'm lucky that I live about 20 minutes from his coaching center in Saigon. One of these days I'll try to get some private coaching from him and report back about the experience. When I go back to the states to visit my family, I stay in Milpitas, California which is the epicenter (or at least...
  10. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

On the broadcast of Filus/Calderano, Adam Bobrow just mentioned a spectacular play by another chopper named Yang Wang from Slovakia. I went to search for it and am glad I did. Here it is:
  11. Cleaning tacky and hybrid rubbers

Just water. I have a bottle of Spin Refresh but I only use it on the rubber base where my fingers touch the rubber (so it can get a bit more grimy there).
  12. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

Wow, this Truls vs Alexis game is a roller coaster. Looked like Alexis was going to go up 2-0, being up 7-2 in Game 2. Truls comes roaring back and gets himself a match point with one of the best rallies of the tournament. First meeting between the two and living up to the hype.
  13. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

Highly recommend watching Shin Yubin vs Han Ying. Great defender versus attacker match with some amazing rallies.
  14. Cleaning tacky and hybrid rubbers

Just put some distilled water in a spray bottle. Mist some on the rubber and use a microfiber cloth or sponge to wipe off. After its dry use one of those non-sticky protector sheets (made of vinyl). I use the rubber roller tube thing to make sure there are no air bubbles in between film and rubber.
  15. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

Day 3 was the day of big upsets apparently. LYJ looked amazing against Aruna, but didn't expect him to look that good against Ma Long.
  16. oxidizing hurricane 3 national blue

Are you using a ball spinner or wheel for practice? I had a boosted Mercury 2 begin to look like that after whacking a ball spinner too much. The impact and abrasion is magnified significantly compared to hitting a ball that's unattached to something.
  17. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

Incredibly entertaining match between friends and training partners Gauzy and Calderano. Can only imagine all the epic rallies they must have during training that will never see the light of day.
  18. Armature FH stroke difference between Tacky and Non tacky rubbers

Here are two videos that I've found recently that describe the difference between FH drive form between tacky Chinese rubbers versus tension rubbers. They are both in Japanese but you can switch on subtitles or just watch how they hit with tacky rubber style versus tension rubber style. '...
  19. Opinions on the Hurricane Long 5 Blades

I just wanted to pop in and ask if anyone has anyone has any opinion on the Nittaku Ma Long series. There's apparently at least 5 blades. 2 are all wood (Ma Long 5 and Ma Long 7) and 3 are carbon blades. Ma Long Carbon is inner FE carbon. Ma Long Carbon 2 is inner glass carbon. Ma Long Carbon 3...
  20. 5 ply blades - a few observations on my three..

My Fextra came in at 1290 Hz, which isn't too hard. There must be a good amount of variation between Fextras because mine feels pretty soft, not significantly stiffer than my Yasaka Sweden Extra.
