  1. Stiga Cybershape Wood Review

My first and current blade is a 78g Nittaku Acoustic. A while 10g less than the 88 +/- it's listed as. I've been trying to figure out how this low weight will affect play compared to its intended specs. It's more nimble of course, but will I lose more than just a bit of power?
  2. wide fit shoes

Mizuno Wave Kaiserburg is their line of wider fit, low weight TT shoes. I have a pair but wish it had a bit more support.
  3. Experts!! Is this a good blade + rubber combo for a developing player

Donic Appelgren is one of the best starter blades. Loads of control and isn't very fast. The last bit might seem like a detriment but it's probabaly better for young players since it'll teach them how to generate power with full body swings, rather than letting the equipment do all of the work...
  4. Weak FH , good FH rubbers. Any advice ?

Beginner tensors that are a good step up from people coming from classic rubbers, from my research and experience: Nittaku Factive, Xiom Vega Intro, Yasaka Rigan, Andro Hexer Duro. They are all a bit cheaper than Rakza 7 (except the Andro, but it lasts a longer time to compensate). And they are...
  5. New Cybershape from STIGA

1390hz is in the same range as the Tibhar Stratus Powerwood, one of the faster all wood 5 plys out there.
  6. New Cybershape from STIGA

I asked the "TTISYOU" channel reviewer to test the frequency of the Cybershape wood and he said it came in at 1390 hz. Sounds like a solid Off- stiffness for 5ply.
  7. Good rubber for improving player

Hey Wing. You're right that's me! I put a max sponge Mercury 2 on my Nittaku Acoustic and it's noticeably faster and spinnier, while being easy to control. I've been playing with that setup recently. The YSE with the 2.0mm sponge was definitely a bit slow. The Xiom Vega Intro is okay but has...
  8. Good rubber for improving player

One more thing: wouldn't a 9 ply OFF rated carbon blade be way too fast for a beginner? I'm guessing when people say it has good control it's in the context of good players with a lot of experience playing with fast carbon blades, rather than for beginners.
  9. Good rubber for improving player

Here's a bit of my experience as a beginner player in a similar situation to her but with a few months of coaching. I paid a lot of money for my first setup which was a Nittaku Acoustic and Fastarc rubbers. Had a few months of coaching with it and I thought I was developing well. After going...
  10. New Cybershape from STIGA

I understood him to mean that he was putting softer rubbers on it to get a better sense of feel when testing. In a later comment he said he put 47.5 and 42.5 ESN rubbers on it (pretty standard hardness for FH/BH) and that it should be good with any rubber. Without a lot of testing, and without...
  11. advice for a blade - low student budget

My Fextra 7 came in at 1290 hz which is just into OFF- territory. Also only 82g. I guess there's a big range in what you wind up getting.
  12. advice for a blade - low student budget

I bought a Sanwei Fextra on Aliexpess for $20 and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and finish. If all the positive reviews are reliable, then it'll probably be hard to find better value.
  13. Opinion on equipment

I'd look into the Yasaka Sweden Extra instead. I wanted a slower blade after using an OFF- Nittaku Acoustic and was deciding between the Sweden Extra and Sweden Classic. The Extra is a bit faster than the Classic but it's still slow and very controllable. I would imagine the Classic being a bit...
  14. The lightest Nittaku Acoustic ever made?

I am a beginner so I'm very tempted to go with the slowest and easiest to control rubbers possible and then work my way up from there (leaning Mercury 2 med for FH and Moon for BH). I've had a couple months of coaching and maybe a month of league play. I really enjoy doing full swings with the...
  15. The lightest Nittaku Acoustic ever made?

I just pulled the rubbers off my Nittaku Acoustic and it weighed it for the first time and was surprised by the results. Only 78g. This is a full 10g less than the average weight. Spectrum analyzer rates the frequency of the blade as 1205 hz (which is in line with other Acoustics in the...
  16. sanwei fextra 7 - factory lacquered?

I have one and it looks to be unlacquered. Doesn't have that very slight sheen from lacquer that was noticeable on other lacquered blades I've seen.
  17. Table tennis is the most difficult and frustrating sport I have ever played

In the long scheme of things, 6 months of training isn't really that long at all for table tennis. I trained with a coach for a few months too and thought that I would beat other beginners easily in match play. A few weeks ago I started playing league matches and also lost to a 10 year old...
  18. New Cybershape from STIGA

Someone on reddit said that the woods used were limba and kiri. This seems to make sense with the low weight at 80-85g and a decent thickness for a 5 ply. But I haven't found any official listing for the composition.
  19. New Cybershape from STIGA

Available now at Dandoy for $99 EUR. At that price, I'm pretty tempted just for the novelty and because it looks really easy to cut rubbers for it.
  20. Developing adult player - advice and TB ALC with Tenergy 05?

I haven't yet. The Fastarc rubbers are 2.0. The Mercury 2 I played with were MAX (2.2 I think). My YSE and rubbers are coming in a few days, so I'll probably get a chance to play with it in about a week. I'll let you know how it plays compared to my Acoustic with Fastarc (which should be...
