  1. Liang, Chen, Wen, Huang, who’s most likely to be the CNT No 3 for LA?

Well, WCQ lost to a 13-year-old not very long ago. I will be surprised to see FZD not in the LA. I think Olympic Games is too tempting to any professional players, so I assume FZD would want to go.
  2. Is Chinese TT just going to go downhill from here?

I was a big fan of Ma Lin and Wang Liqin. But Ma Long and FZD's consistency is just above everyone else. But you are right, LSD is still young and has the very potential to become the next great. Downhill or not. Hope this sport will get more attention and money worldwide.
  3. How to practice placement?

When I said less skilled opponent, I meant I could technically do more things while he's more of a one trick pony. People were surprised I lost. I wasn't surprised because I saw what I was lacking. Of course I understand that placement is a critical part in the game, and therefore wondering...
  4. How to practice placement?

Just lost a best of 5 games to someone who is obviously less skilled and less powerful. But he won by very good ball placements, and serves too. So when I practice, I always return the ball to the most comfortable place for the opponent because I don't want to be a moron and make us spending...
  5. Is Chinese TT just going to go downhill from here?

WCQ and LSD are just one of the top players. FZD and Ma Long are one tier above everyone else. You don't always get such talent, not even China. Now FZD is bothered by non-ping pong stuff and is somewhat retired from international tournaments, and we can immediately see that it's not Chinese...
  6. Table Tennis Shop in Guangzhou ?

A quick search online and I cannot find anything. Wow Double Fish really has the worst advertisement. I guess you will have to ask the locals.
  7. Chinese Women! What would be their ranking if they were men?

In an interview, Deng Yaping once was told that she should play in the men's games because she was a beast. She replied something like, don't be silly, I couldn't even win one game against anyone in the second team of the CNT. I think Zhang Yining and Chen Meng probably has a chance to break...
  8. Table Tennis Shop in Guangzhou ?

If you are going to visit the Sun Yat-Sen's Memorial Hall, there is an official Double Fish shop near by.
  9. Do you practice pushing?

I got a chance to practice serve -> push long -> open loop -> block/counter with a former pro. Her time was before the power looping era, so she wanted to practice open loops and counter. We both enjoyed the practice. She said she told many amateur players to practice short game controls, but...
  10. Do you practice pushing?

I don't have a coach or training buddies. And pushing seems boring to people in general. So how should I train? practice serve-receive and focus on pushing and placement?
  11. Do you practice pushing?

That's what I have been doing because attacking feels good. But table tennis is about varying so your opponents can't keep up with you right? I don't mean to just keep pushing and forget about other things. But sometimes, a good push can give you a much better situation to open up.
  12. Do you practice pushing?

We usually just practice drives and loops, with occasional serve-receive practices. And I have never seen people practicing or even discussing pushing. I find this quite interesting. For us amateurs, I think pushing can win more points than looping/smashing because usually we have better...
  13. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

I haven't watched the final yet, but I am not surprised that WCQ lost. From their past encounters, Harimoto did not play worse than WCQ. He just struggled to return WCQ's serves. At some point, I know he would focus on service receives with his coaches and figure that out. Without this drawback...
  14. Blade maintenance?

I don't worry about moisture. I worry about water when I clean. I guess I should use a dampened towel or some TT cleaning products, instead of water directly. I just hope my blade could last over 10 years and still plays like at least 70% new.
  15. Blade maintenance?

water based glue is the mainstream now right? I guess I will need to be careful when I clean the rubbers. And silica gel pack is a good idea!
  16. Blade maintenance?

Do I need to worry about blade maintenance? After playing, I would use water to clean the rubbers. And usually I would get a bit of water at the edge of the blade. I believe some amount would be absorbed into the wood. And over some period of time, would that affect the wood and/or the adhesive...
  17. I want opinions on my chances of pro

Having a business at 12 is unusual, but this can be real. It probably comes from the influence from family and friends. TT is fun and competitive, and the OP is in a fast improving stage. So he's in a enthusiastic mode and set a goal for himself. Very understandable. And I wish every...
  18. I want opinions on my chances of pro

I think the best player in the US is ranked about 50th in the world. It is achievable. To reach that level, you need to practice a lot with players of different styles who are at that level. This means, after you reach like 2600 USATT, you will probably need to go and train frequently in Europe...
  19. How to tight the core?

I have the same question. How hard do I need to keep my core tight? Does my body need to be 100% rigid, so I only turn my hip? Do I do this all the time or only when I hit the ball? I think the idea behind this is to throw your body forward instead of upward when you generate power. But I don't...
  20. People who switched from carbon back to wood, how’s it going?

Weight was the initial intent. The design criteria and technologies must have changed over the years. But generally, if two blades are at the same speed and power, composite blades should be thinner and lighter than all wood right? I don't have much experience with equipments. To me, composite...
