  2. Coaching Adult Learners

I am not fully sold on avoiding competition and there is nothing wrong with regressing into bad habits as this is inevitable. What I try to explain to my students and people is that you cannot master technique without using it to both make and miss shots, and that you are better off doing the...
  3. Slow down a blade or speed up the rubbers?

I don't think it does but at a certain point, you can only make the ball go so slow and get people to miss. I think (and thoughtsontabletennis has a great entry on this) that having your setup perform as you desire it to over certain ranges of input is the key to blade rubber matching. Of...

My technique is fairly mature so this isn't what is happening for me. I still suspect I could do really well with a Viscaria and possibly a True Carbon. The problem for me is the handle design and the blade speed don't allow me to control the paddle the way I like to. In fact, the biggest...
  15. Blade recommendation

I think it is the level of vibration felt which is tied to duration because od the lower frequency vibrations are easier to feel. I could be wrong about the last part though.
  16. Blade recommendation

You are correct - Vp is the measure that most people are complaining about. Vi, or the vibration at the finger, is important for feel but not what most people are thinking about when they complain about vibrations.

Update on my EJing to get a faster blade - I really don't know how to play with a faster blade. I have tried again and I know that because of my limited mobility, I definitely need one, likely with a spinny rubber like Evolution MX-S, in order to compete with better players. Or maybe just...
  18. German Open 2017

I never said the Olmypic Champion was favored. I said that the player in question is that player. It rewards participation and results, but there is a bias towards participation in order to keep players current if they want to keep their seeding relevant. Otherwise, they will just have to...

Dima and Timo are not around. Why should he not be relaxed? :p
  20. German Open 2017

Not silly if you consider that the player this would have favored is both the reigning world and olympic Champion.
