  1. Article: Ma Long Reflects On Losing First Match In 5 Years!

I watched the "fault" call and it is another good example of why the idea of 6 inches between the ball and the hand is proof of a 6 inch toss is nonsense.

The reason why the closed training is an "issue" is because of the ball changes. Without that, it would be far less of an issue.

There are 7 different 3* ITTF approved balls at least. I am a bit of a ball expert, having bought and tested every ball and played with various types of equipment for every ball, I just don't talk about it. 1. Made in China old DHS - this is the cellulose acetate ball that was used in WTTC...
  5. Asian Championships 2017

I could play with the Xu Shaofa, I even had decent results with the Dfish egg. I just hated the DHS egg and its clones. I mean don't get me wrong, I may come to rue the loss of spin, but I am a heavy spin player by nature, I left equipment with more spin to use equipment with more control...
  6. Asian Championships 2017

No, they are comparing the ball to the old cellulose acetate ball. China built a whole practice venue for their team in Rio, do you think they would skimp on the cost of ordering only 3* NP40+ balls for training? They are complaining that their spins and strokes don't draw errors like they...

I agree. What I mean is that some amateurs actually prefer those crappy balls as well and complain about the lack of spin on ABS balls. For me, consistency is far more important than spin.

But they were using the Nittaku ball not the DHS D40+ ball. So they can't complain. The spin is less on all ABS balls. But I personally can spin the D40+ comfortably and have no complaints about it. People still miss my serves etc.

You would be surprised. You would be surprised.... Yo be fair to DHS, their D40+ ball is similar to Nittaku and is excellent.

How can he screw up teams he didn't even coach? The ladies coaching team is basically the same. The men won the team event. The women won the team event. In the singles, it was all Miu Hirano. For the men's Ma Long lost despite having his usual coach. Xu Xin lost with a new coach, but with...

I think the second match is on CCTV 5, yes?
  14. Asian Championships 2017

The match was on CCTV5+ and I was watching CCTV 5 - stupid me!
  15. Ma Long records first loss in 5 years!

The serve warning was not the same as the reason for the fault. The second serve was clearly a fault and the umpire can call it without hesitation after giving a warning for something else. I think the warning was about how he tossed the ball from his palm. The actual fault was clearly a...

  19. Asian Championships 2017

China has not lost these Asian titles in years and has dominated past events mercilessly almost always producing both finalists. Celebrate your victories and stop waiting for the one that may or may never come.
  20. Asian Championships 2017

Obviously. Ma Long has said as much. See here: They need more time to adjust to it, and they had a significant advantage with the old ball in terms of manufacturing and quality for their team to use. That ball was really terrible and they practiced the most with it by far.
