I am confused, if your goal is to get international experience and world ranked, why you would choose to try to compete for a more competitive country (Germany) rather than a less competitive one (USA) where you'd have an easier chance getting international tournament opportunities. Why?

Yes I am sure Li Yongyin is somewhere around 2750. I've explained already in other threads that world ranking is meaningless in many cases, and this is something you should be familiar with by now. It's the same reason you mentioned you had almost beat a world ranked player from South America...

Full time if you want even a slim chance of making it.

That will not be the hardest part, the hardest part will be going from 1800 to 2600+ in the next 3 years...we have discussed this before...

BL1 = 2750+ USATT most 2800+ unless you end up at the end of the bench for a bad team but even in those cases you still need to be very good BL2 = 2650+ USATT at a minimum but many players much better than this BL3 = very wide range here, but some players as good as 2750 and some as low as 2600...

It's not a false dilemma at all. Say you have a very old racket and only have enough money to replace two rubbers or a blade, which one do you pick? Say you're buying a racket for the first time working with a limited budget, do you prioritize the quality of the rubbers or the blade?

Yeah sorry I really don't believe any former Olympic TT medalist is spending their retirement "rapidly cycling thru rackets" and playing doubles and casual singles against 2000 level players.

We aren't talking about testing and getting familiar with equipment, we're talking about whether rubber or blade affects overall paddle performance more. In your example about what Zhang Jike said, he is obviously talking about a scenario where someone is changing blades but still using rubbers...

Anders Lind is also on record saying that "rubber matters a lot more" than blade but I can't be bothered right now to go dig up where I saw it. People can believe me or not, I don't really care cause this thread has been given much more attention than it deserves lol.

Judging by the fact that you aren't even sure of what the equipment was or the condition it was in from your story, this story and your interpretation of his casual comment is pretty meaningless. But maybe you can go ask him the question that was posed in the OP and see if he is willing to go on...

Yeah Truls is the odd man out on the Swedish team right now. Lots of things going on mostly stemming from coaching drama but also personal things behind closed doors.

Fair enough, I'm not well versed on the history of the forum, just what I see from time to time. No doubt that the topic seems to be the dominant one nowadays maybe because there are both vocal supporters and detractors now.
