If you had made the blades identical just with the core ply as balsa and the other ayous then the balsa would be lighter? Did the balsa blade feel more hollow? I am curious because I had the idea to make a similar composition with limba-ayous-alc-balsa-alc-ayous-limba.

Please stop saying that the blade has been sanded. Whether or not it is sanded it is word against word. Of my own experience I have seen core plys been rough like that or in other cases having edge tape on and afterwards peeling the tape off leaves the wood look like that. I am not taking sides...
