So I've trained BH loops before, but it always felt wrong. After spending the past few months gradually improving my close to the table BH counters, I decided to try it again, this time integrating what I learned closer to the table and morphing it into a looping stroke. I figured that it was...

Over the past week I've started to do more BH practice, including starting to learn the BH loop especially a couple steps away from the table. I've found that while I usually do BH practice near the table, in game play I'm usually a bit further back so my practice is often not useful. Now I'm...

Don't forcefully pull your forearm back, just let it relax and drop back. As you start your forward swing with a relaxed elbow joint your forearm will naturally snap back behind the elbow. As for the timing of when to snap your forearm, which as you correctly identified is not done through...

Yes, I'd like to see Tong Tong as much as possible! Wonder why she got rid of the bangs?

Because it's not just one shot, we all did many, many shots. Maybe individual shots can have some variations in measurement, but over a large number of shots the experience is quite consistent.

How sure are you about that though? I certainly have a waaaaay easier time blocking 110s level loops than 120's, and that's in a practice setting so placement doesn't come into play. I mean, obviously placement is very important too, but I wouldn't underestimate the difference of say 10% in...

I do wonder if the small differences actually matter a lot more than we think. I mean, the weakest loopers of our group, maybe a 12-1400 level player using a G1, had spin in the 110's, while the strongest with H3 or D05/D09c was ~130, so really just a 10-15% difference. We all know that...

Tried it with some clubmates last week! My typical FH loop against block comes in at ~130 rps, topped out in the low 140s, with the "power meter" thing typically in the 110s. I didn't specifically try to generate spin, so not sure where it'd land at. Interestingly as @NextLevel found out it...
  9. Ten Years Ago…😄 who do you recognize?

I see @Der_Echte and is that @NextLevel? Got the knee braces, but haven't met him in person so not sure about the face!

He had lighter rubbers on it so it actually weighed only like 192 grams, which is about the same as my usual setups. That's probably why I didn't feel the weight was an issue. With feel like that I'd be willing to go heavier though, the lighter one just felt so unremarkable.

One of my clubmates got the Spinsight thing and we had some fun trying it out last night. As @Der_Echte can probably guess, I had the most powerful FH by a decent margin. Interestingly, with more powerful FH shots the spin increases just as much as speed and that went for all of us. On FH...

Hah, I'm having the opposite issue! I've been working a lot on my FH/BH technique and I've made a lot of progress with them, but they're far from ingrained in my muscle memory yet. So my issue right now is that if I have a bit of time, I can execute them and play a lot better, but if a rally...

Training's been going super well. This past week I've focused on getting the new form down and progressively adding complexities and increase consistency. On both sides I'd start each practice using minimal movement to produce the hardest hit, with as little spin generated as possible to...

So I've decided to stick to my current setup for now. I've just reached the form I've been trying to obtain, so just gonna focus on solidifying that and don't wanna mess with a very different equipment right now. At most I'll try out my existing Vis variants to satisfy my EJ urge lol. Some...

I'd argue that it's the opposite. You did get the feedback, and the feedback was that you were not hitting into the sponge and blade enough. In some ways what you describe is kinda like Goku training with weights. Once you take the weights off, i.e. switch to a setup that's much easier to...

I do think that he just flipped his racket around now too. Besides holding his racket backwards, in the match against Jha he also flipped his racket around when smashing then quickly flipped it again after presumably realizing that he's already using the D09c side on the FH.

Did some more extensive testing of the 3 blades, all with H3 FH and D09C BH. I think the Q968 is still the happy medium between the 3. I'm amazed by just how different the Q and the W are every time I comp them. They look identical, yet play so differently. DHS must be using different fibers...

All similar, blades at 88-90 grams and total weight 190-195.

So after many months of training, my new form have finally reached where I want them to be. FH, BH, topspin, or backspin, all have arrived, and I've finally got my coach's stamp of approval! Now I'm working on solidifying the new forms as I still slip into poor form gradually when I'm not...

Yes, he could, but it doesn't really matter if he's using it on both sides.
