  1. Which setup should I invest more time in?

if you have the same feeling with Acoustic and an outer ALC then the issue is not the blade but you not having developed any feeling at all. you better stay for at least for 6 month with the Acoustic to get a base feeling for it. Don't bother changing something faster, if you dont even feel the...

  3. "This rubber is not correct!"

i just found something uplifting. Somebody beating Naplokov even though that dude would have lost against 90% of the higher rated players that Naplokov slayed recently. This is Francesco Maragioglio from TTC Oggersheim (Germany). He is above 40 already and plays short pips on his backhand...
  4. Advice for beginners: No need to change your blade

of course he does. Butterfly would generate revenue from their rubbers (regardless if one sticks with the same one or changes them) periodically anyways, but having the people also switch blades is much more lucrative for them.
  5. "This rubber is not correct!"

which is very odd that something that can be checked much easier by the players themselves (like bat & rubber thickness) would be found more often than something dubious like treated pimples these statements can be true all by themselves. you are putting them together in the same context, but...
  6. "This rubber is not correct!"

with your style of power first and spin second you probably have less issues with these on your level i woud assume.
  7. "This rubber is not correct!"

thank you, Tony. i find it odd that most of them are simply too thick rubbers and none actually mention friction. is that even tested or are the tools simply to sparse so that this will not be tested.
  8. "This rubber is not correct!"

i think it is very bold to say that such a high level player like andreas should simply "learn the game" (against pips-out or whatever). Nie does not need to score the points with his LP side, if he simply forces Levenenko to loop a ball too high with it, so that he can finish it with a smash of...
  9. Losing rant

The ratings discussion was not aimed at you directly, but it can be compared anyways. you think of yourself of a virtual rating that tells you that you should beat player x, y and Z and still you lost against them. you have to decide for yourself if your inner rating is wrong. a smart man once...
  10. Losing rant

just found another game with an even bigger difference in rating by the same pips-out player. you really have to feel bad for the looper as you see him not having a weapon against the chopping and random smashing.
  11. Which setup should I invest more time in?

its not that bad to play with it, if you want to stay with your current technique and skills, but if you want to improve rapidly, yes i think an all wood blade would significantly boost your rate of improvement.
  12. Which setup should I invest more time in?

If these are the only blades you have, of course the innerlayer one would be the better, but at your stage i would tell you that you can not handle the speed of any of these and should go 5ply wood to learn the basics.
  13. Losing rant

w with that rating difference the lower rated players has a probability of winning of around 35%. 100 points difference is quite a lot even inside one league it would be heavily favouring the one player. In this example we obviously see that even good players can not often "wing it" when...
  14. Losing rant

a few points from the perspective of somebody playing for 3 years (but only about 6 months competitively). winning against somebody in a training match or even playing "good" and losing only closely is no indicator of your match performance. In a real match many people will play very...
  15. How to receive pendulum serve to the body/elbow?

If you and the opponent are right handed the spin will make the ball drift to your left side and favor a loop or backhand flick with sidespin while you can go with the spin and hence have less reaction to the incoming skin. You would use your wide serve receive stance or step out a little with...
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Ok, we are having different expectations here. I expect the topic to resolve around somebody actually wanting to get better and not stay in the current state and just win as much as possible. Great if somebody counter loops the ball, then you are able to learn how to cope with that and in time...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

which is pointless if we are talking about getting better. You don't become a better player when your shots dont get returned and you remove the possibility to learn to actually have a rally with the opponent. Having the ball come back and reacting to that is much more helpful for the progress...
  18. Warranty on Table Tennis Blades

I had sealed a blade with a special sealer by spinfactory and after glueing and removing a rubber i also got lines of the wooden fibre detach from the blade. it seemed like the sealer actually made the wood softer.
  19. How to train the youth

i am surely not qualified as a coach, but i can tell a few common mistakes from the club i am member in and what i do see in youth players that are about the same age range like described in the original post. From what i have wittnessed the approach of our youth coach (which basically consists...
  20. Help me with equipment (2 years exp player)

i would not get a Mark V. It is outdated and hard to play especially without technique and physique. Go for the Vega Europe if you still want the rubber to do something for you. If you dont want that you can go for the Vega Intro which has less tensor effect and is more controllable. perhaps...
