If the serve has topspin on it you *have* to keep the racket closed. You stated in your original post that the ball keeps going out. If the ball keeps going out, you aren't closing the racket enough, and doubly so because you are close to the table and need the ball to come back down.

If you are losing to long pips players you are clearly neither of those things.

Both Hurricane 3 and Dignics 09c are hard tacky rubbers... those are always going to be much harder to use than softer non-tacky rubbers. Why people on this forum who are not very good always look for the hardest and tackiest rubbers to play with totally baffles me.

I think Nittaku remains popular because years ago when plastic balls were new, Nittaku *was* the best because the other balls were complete garbage. The old Butterfly G40+ sounded like they were made of glass. The XuShaoFa 3* seamless were okay, but often misshapen and had weird trajectories...

If a rubber can hold onto anything I consider it tacky, it's just a matter of what and for how long. If a completely not sticky protector sheet sticks to a rubber, it's tacky.

If you're concerned about how tacky the rubber is and cost, I'd suggest Codexx EL Pro 52 or EF Pro 54. Much tackier than newer hybrids and you can find them for <$40 USD.
