  1. Crazy no look table tennis shot!!

lol @ the eyeglasses shop advertisement in the background. This is filmed in Finland.
  2. Lin Gaoyan's Style and the Poly Era

That's kind of what I mean. Some player can be more deemed for one technique than the other and taught that way, because of their physical abilities and traits. Or does the CNT work more on an "engineering" basis where they just have goals that they try to fulfill with their players ie...
  3. The big EDGE TAPE thread.

I can just imagine the marketing department going "Blimey! A 0.0001 CD decrease!" and jumping on that as their marketing scheme.
  4. Lin Gaoyan's Style and the Poly Era

Isn't technique also somewhat dependent on body proportions, how the joints work in detail etc? Humans don't differ physiologically that much to warrant huge differences, but doesn't it play into the equation a bit?
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I think this is pretty obvious, but I find it good to ignore the ball travel and just track it from your peripheral to judge if it's a low or high toss, but mostly pay attention to what the server is doing with their body and what contact they make. There has to be some tell tales of...
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@suds79 I mostly play weaker players and I'm not so good myself, so I'm not sure how much this applies, but in serve receive, I figure out what my opponent doesn't like and what wins me points, and what he is trying to do on his serve that wins him points, and avoid that. For example one of...
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I'm back, played some more games. It is now completely natural for me to be much lower than before on the serve and serve receive: and I've finally found the posture and stance that feels good and works. I was tensing my back and taxing my joints too much before. I made a conscious effort to...
  8. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Currently at my school. I played a bit earlier. Helped a newbie with his forehand. I fed him light topspin and instructed him. He didn't trust the ball to go over the net without opening his angle, and his legs and hip turn were very bad. I corrected all of those to some degree and he made two...
  9. Which physical exercises are the best for table tennis improvement?

I really do have to advocate weighted squats myself as well. It's not the first time I do either. Just casually doing sets with 60 - 70kg (Around my own bodyweight) and the usual drills has strengthened my legs over the few years I've been playing. If I took it seriously and aimed for at the...
  10. Astounding discovery

Ah, so you're more so saying that you've found a rubber that, for you, produces a very good result that's comparable to "the best"? That's different from what I originally read. Well, if it's a cheap rubber and it's perfect for you, then you've got really lucky.
  11. Astounding discovery

I think you're missing the point somewhat. I've not used either rubber, but hear me out. I've been led to believe that tacky, hard sponge rubbers like H3 require advanced over the table skills and very fast swing speed to really shine. We amateurs don't have those. Softer sponge rubbers, and...
  12. Which physical exercises are the best for table tennis improvement?

You know, there's actually a lot of benefits to the ancient, prehistoric technique of squat-artillery. For one, less chance of a hernia. Video related. No table tennis forum post would be complete without technique discussion.
  13. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Doing a lot of challenging things will get you used to losing and screwing up pretty fast. If you keep trying challenging things, losing and failing will be the norm, so it's meaning changes. Loss changes from a negative thing to just an unavoidable happening, a means to an end. I'm pretty...
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Suga, first Der_Echte ruins my image of him being a small Korean guy who can talk BIG GAME, and now you ruin my impression of you being a rastaman. What next? Good swings, though.
  15. Which physical exercises are the best for table tennis improvement?

The best drill for footwork for what purpose? I think footwork drills for getting faster, fitter and more accurate like the pros do aren't the same as footwork drills to improve coordination and learn basic movement.
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So, I haven't touched a table tennis table in weeks, and of course, the symptoms start to take effect. I'm doing footwork shadow drills with my kitchen table. For a long time now I've understood that with my forehand stroke, my body rotation is too late, or my arm is too early, or...
  17. Consistency with forehand drive/topspin when training with partner

OP, let me tell you from experience, but if you're not sure of what kind of ball you're producing, then you're probably not producing the kind of ball you think you are. A few years ago, I was claiming to "loop" and my shots were as flat as a brick wall, so any kind of advice that has to do...
  18. Consistency with forehand drive/topspin when training with partner

I guess I'll ask the usual: What is your playing level? How long have you been playing? Do you have any video of yourself playing? These are helpful for the members here to help you.
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Hahah, then it's good for people like me who are at broken Japanese baby-speak level.
  20. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@Vrael Searching with "少年ラケト" brings up a bunch of pixiv illustrations and whatnot, but I can't seem to find anything about the actual manga itself, so I figured that's not what I should search with. Seems it's just obscure on the non-Japanese speaking internet. I can't read kanji past the...
