  1. LA 2028 Olympics - 6 Events

So Japan takes the Men's and Women's Singles titles both beating a number of Chinese players in China. S. Korea takes both XD and WD as well. China will have to settle for MD this time.
  2. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

It's been a long time coming, but finally Sora Matsushima gets his WTT title. Congratulations, young master Sora! He almost threw it away up 9-4 in the decider but wins the deuce game.
  3. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Japan should give bonus points towards WTT[T]C and Olympics for beating CNT players (and ex CNT player :) ) at Contender and above WTT tournaments. Honoka would rack up the points.
  4. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

No miracle necessary! Awesome Honoka beats Japan killer ZYL 4-0! Not enough superlatives to describe what she did completely dismantling defense killer, ZYL. Controlled almost all of ZYL's attacks. Variations killed ZYL. I don't remember if Japan has their 2025 WTTC set already. If not, put...
  5. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Congrats to Kim Nayeong / Ryu Hanna with the 3-2 win over China's Chen Yi / Xu Yi in WD. Ryu Hanna is making a name for herself as a doubles specialist.
  6. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Technically true for the women too since ZYL represents Macau. ZYL knocked out QTY and CY. Yokoi knocked out Xu Yi. Hashimoto was a workhorse taking out Liu Weishan, Zong Geman, and Qin Yuxuan.

Just a reminder for today's Semi Finals Semi Finals April 12: Finals April 13
  8. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Matsushima taking down 3 CNT players in a row with the 3rd being 3-0 over Xiang Peng no less! Great tournament for the 2025 Japanese National Champion. Hope he wins it tomorrow.
  9. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Ok, I gotta admit I want Chen Yi to beat ZYL to pave the way for Honoka. But wouldn't it be epic to have Honoka Hashimoto beat ZYL in the finals who has been beating up everyone on the JNT: Yokoi, Odo, Hirano, Hayata.
  10. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

I agree with you that JNT is better at playing defenders than CNT. Anything's possible of course, and Miyuu would do better than Liu Weishan or Zong Geman. I just think Honoka is in such good form now beating Hina Hayata. Miyuu is actually pretty good against defenders though not at the level...
  11. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Those two are probably the favorites to make the finals, but there are chances for others. In the top half, Yokoi actually played ZYL really close at 2024 Feeder Cagliari losing 3-2,11-8. Chen Yi is playing well and has won multiple Feeder tournaments. She also beat Haruna Ojio 3-0 at 2025...
  12. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Honoka Hashimoto runs right through Liu Weishan 3-0

Player's list is already out for the WTTC, and he is on the list: https://worldtabletennis.com/eventInfo?selectedTab=Player%20List&eventId=3108
  14. LA 2028 Olympics - 6 Events

Yeah, it hasn't been a great start to 2025 internationally, but it's not like she's losing to weak players: CXT, CIC, WYD, Hashimoto, ZYL. Even her last match, she lost a close one to ZYL, who, btw, beat Odo twice (3-0,4-2), Hirano 3-0, Yokoi 3-2. As for XTWC 2023, you're really gonna fault...
  15. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Good draw for all the Japanese women to make the QF. I think they would be the favorites in each matchup: Kihara vs. Li Jie Nagasaki vs. Park Gahyeon Yokoi vs. Yang Ha Eun Hashimoto vs. Liu Weishan
  16. LA 2028 Olympics - 6 Events

She doesn't need to do more than 2 events ... most likely Singles + either WD or Mixed Teams. Being a lefty and having quite a bit of doubles experience (both XD and WD), she would be quite valuable to the team. Even with an injured arm at Paris, she and Miwa nearly pulled off the doubles vs...
  17. LA 2028 Olympics - 6 Events

No, what I mean is you can increase the number of players while keeping the same number (6) of events so increasing the number of players does not affect the scheduling. Thus, no good reason not to increase the available pool of players.
  18. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Sakura Yokoi 3-2 over Xu Yi of China. Mentally tough, down 2-1 and under huge pressure in game 4, she holds on to force a decider. Then, in the decider, she showed everything, BH down the line, loop kills Xu Yi's serve, hit to the wide forehand and block to the backhand leaving Xu Yi...
  19. WTT CONTENDER TAIYUAN 2025

Great match between Kazuki Hamada and Xue Fei. Close throughout and tied at 2-2,8-8 Hamada with the serve played aggressively to get 10-8. Missed a loop on Xue Fei's serve, but didn't let that stop him from being aggressive while under pressure to take the match 3-2,11-9. Very good mental game.
  20. LA 2028 Olympics - 6 Events

I guess this is China's way of telling the rest of the world, you have to take the Mixed Team World Cup seriously.
