KM beat SXY 3-2 in SC Doha in QF. In the most recent tournament, Contender Muscat, SXY beat KM 4-0 in the Finals. Both are deserving of a wildcard here, but KM got it. She's in a really good rhythm but has to get through the final boss, SYS. Top 10 is becoming China/Japan only club.

At some point this year, as long as SXY gets the opportunities, I've no doubt she'll be visiting the top 10. She is too good not to be.

I agree she's the current best female player, but if she were head and shoulders above everyone else, she would be the Paris Olympic champion. Even now, it was a coin toss between her and WYD. We'll see how she does tomorrow... current #1 vs. potential future #1.

Yes. At a minimum she's a semi-finalist worth 700 pts. Her new ranking at a minimum would be 1505-15+700=2190 which would be right behind Mima Ito at #9, SYB #10, QTY #11. If she beats CXT, she jumps up to Odo's spot at #7. If she becomes champion, she jumps into Miwa's spot at #6.

KM 4-1 ZYL. ZYL is quite the fighter though. She's going to be moving up the rankings fast.

Watched some 7 pt games at the Youth Smash. I don't find it appealing. Games are over so quick. No time to adjust and switch tactics. Not a fan.

It's not relevant that it took 1.6 years to beat a CNT player. It's relevant that she's still capable of doing it. How many other players would love to be able to beat one of the top 7 CNT women?

Of course I support Mima in a Mima vs. QTY matchup, but in a weird way it was kinda sad not to hear any Chinese fans cheering QTY like you normally hear when the other top CNT players play.

Lily did well to get to R16 at a Smash and got a game from Hina. No Continental boost points for Lily so this is huge to get back into top 50.

One thing that's pretty impressive about SYB's ranking is that she's done it without the support of a continental boost. If you look at her results, she has a number of QF at high value tournaments whereas some other players with continental boost (I won't name names) have a number of R16s at...

Whew! Fortunately, SYB wins 3-0 over Diaconu; otherwise, we wouldn't hear the end of it from 5545. Kidding aside, I think 5545's beef is really with the WTT ranking system. You don't lose points for losing to a player. Losing early just prevents you from moving up or moving up...
