  1. Different sound of DHS D40+ balls

Checked my TTNPP order history. Ordered 144 of those balls on 3/12. They seem completely normal to me. Little extra info. On 5/10 ordered a few of those DHS 2-tone balls. They play exactly the same as the regular D40+ ball. So those also get a big thumbs up from me.
  2. serve

I was once told a good serve is one that the opponent can't attack. That might have been true or easier to achieve back in the day. But today with the over the table flip on serve return and given I've played this game long enough to now realize that some players like X type of balls. So really...
  3. Different sound of DHS D40+ balls

Our club has been playing with the D40+ ball for years now. So we don't really play with enough different balls to tell. But going off memory I remember when we first switch some people making a note about the sound. But that's because it was new. Now nobody ever says a thing about them. It's...
  4. Is weight gain/muscle gain detrimental to table tennis?

+1000 I was just about to jump in here SMH at the notion that adding muscle makes you slower. It's an old myth that has been debunked time & time again yet it still won't die. Muscle makes you faster. Particularly if you train in fast twitch/explosiveness moves. So in short to the OP and to...
  5. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Ah i see. Yes I have a love for Jpen. Even two sided ones, but I just can't seem to go with them anymore because it just makes sense to me to use Cpen instead for its versatility. For some reason when I've played Jpen in the past, I've played more power. But Cpen always gave me more spin. IDK...
  6. Help me i am a equiment junkie

I'll hang onto all your money for you. This way you can't keep buying stuff. Boom. Problem solved.
  7. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

That's what I do. Mostly TPB. Occasionally RPB LP chop-block if I'm close to the table or full on RPB chop with the LPs if I'm off the table. I'm getting better at it but still a long, long ways to go on consistency as playing that modern defender esk type of game isn't something I've practice...
  8. 729 Battle II Rubber Review

Every retailer here in the states have dropped it and according to Zeropong who i contacted as to why they no longer carry it said there were major QC problems with that so they pulled it. The only place left that I know of to get it is Ali express. So I guess I wouldn't be surprised to hear...
  9. Any other sport or activity where a 14 year old can defeat a world champion?

Yeah basically any sport where pure physical strength or size isn't a huge factor would be a sport where someone that young, while still maturing physically could thrive. I think others have listed the other sports already. I'll throw into the ring that competitive gaming would be another...
  10. Released - DHS D40+ Bi-Color balls from China Super Leagues

100% agree and that's my impressions also. It feels just like the normal DHS D40+ ball which is fantastic. That being said, some older guys, playing pool will often watch my co-worker and I hit when we go over lunch and they said "boy you can see that new ball a lot better". So from an...
  11. 729 Battle II Rubber Review

So I haven't hit enough with this rubber to give a full review but I have seen it in person and I have made some observations enough for me to think it'll probably be my next rubber I buy. I like Chinese tacky & hard rubbers for the FH. Hard rubbers for power. Have tried almost every Chinese...
  12. Light Forum Skin for PC

I would just like a work mode. One that doesn't show avatars or the graphics in the header up at the top. This way when I'm at work, it's not blatantly obvious I'm not working. ... No judgement :p
  13. Problem Reverse Pendulum (to the forehand with backspin) - low spin and too high

Perhaps I should have been more clear. I'm not saying it can't be done. Certainly not arguing that. I was just trying to stress, and probably very poorly, to the OP who said he needed more backspin that it doesn't matter how much backspin, or any type of spin really if a serve is high. I was...
  14. Problem Reverse Pendulum (to the forehand with backspin) - low spin and too high

Sounds like you do know what the problem is. You listed the main culprit in your first two examples. Your serves are too high. I've always felt that it doesn't matter how much spin is on the ball, so you don't need more backspin as you asked, if the ball is high, a good player will smoke that...
  15. Released - DHS D40+ Bi-Color balls from China Super Leagues

Got my set in. Had a light hit with them at club on Sunday. Our club uses the DHS D40+ ball as our official club ball. Most people commented on the color as it's weird getting used to seeing orange again. Funny because back in the day, that's what everybody loved. Just goes to show people just...
  16. Should you practice the strawberry?

it's a cool shot. I play penhold with inverted on the forehand and a long pips on the RPB side. That being said, I've began copying and using that (Xu Xin was the first one I ever saw do it) forehand inverted I'm calling a forehand strawberry flick and it's great vs anything back & side from...
  17. Tips for forehand topspin/loop

I'm a big proponent of observing something done well, then trying to go and emulate it vs written instruction. Better to have your conscious mind turned off while performing your swing. So this is the best advice I can give you. Now go and do likewise. Simply give us your best Xu Xin...
  18. Donic Baracuda 1.8 vs Tenergy 05 FX 1.7

So true. Why spend $79 for Tenergy if you're not going to fully unleash it? That'd be looking to buy a Ferrari and asking if they'll drop a v-6 in there for you because you're not ready to drive with that much power. If you're looking for, and I quote "I'm the most interested in spin and...
  19. Donic Baracuda 1.8 vs Tenergy 05 FX 1.7

If you were most interested in spin, I'd think you'd go 2.1 Personally with the plastic ball, and a couple of more recent rubbers opting for a thinner topsheet so they can really go thicker on the sponge, I don't believe in playing with anything but max thickness one can get in today's game...
  20. Best table tennis robots for price

No simple solution for you. The biggest problem here is that you have a table outdoors. The setting up & taking down over & over. If there's a slight breeze which could effect the ball. Ugh. No thanks. I'll sell you my return board. :p 5 second set up & take down.... FYI - they're not as...
